In January 2025, Wataru Momose, the creator of Romantic Killer, launched a new manga series on Shueisha’s digital platform, Shonen Jump+. While Momose has created three ongoing series, none have lasted beyond 40 chapters, despite promising ideas. Since shonen manga (aimed at young boys) are generally very popular and cover many different genres, the manga market is incredibly competitive and growing rapidly. Because of this, Shueisha often cancels series that don’t gain a large readership quickly.
Even when published on popular websites or in magazines, many series struggle to find a large enough audience. Last year, one platform cancelled dozens of series, including My Marriage to Saneka, which finished with its 25th chapter on November 25, 2025. Although the series was well-loved for its beautiful artwork and charming characters, it wasn’t successful enough to continue. The cancellation news was especially upsetting to fans, who had given the manga positive reviews. The final volume will be released on April 13, 2026, and the cover art has already been revealed.
My Marriage to Saneka Is a Captivating Supernatural Romance

Tatsuhiko Shimazaki inherits his estranged grandfather’s house after the old man passes away. Though he wasn’t close to his grandfather and isn’t initially interested in the property, his aunt convinces him to take a look. Planning to only stay one night since he already has a comfortable apartment, Tatsuhiko is shocked to discover a tanuki living in the house, seemingly worshipping his late grandfather like a celebrity.
Things took an unexpected turn when the tanuki suddenly changed into a girl. She explained she was a real goddess, the guardian spirit of the house, named Saneka. She’d lived with Tatsuhiko’s grandfather for years and had been looking after the house on her own since he passed away. At first, Saneka didn’t like Tatsuhiko, as he didn’t seem to care much about his grandfather or the house. However, she quickly began to see that there was more to him than met the eye.
Tatsuhiko listened for hours as Saneka shared stories of the past and her grandfather’s love, which made him wish he’d tried to connect with the man when he had the chance. He decided to stay a while longer, but on the second night, he unknowingly set a chain of events in motion by eating a mochi – an ancient custom that meant he would marry Saneka. Gods from all around came to celebrate the wedding, and Tatsuhiko quickly realized he couldn’t travel far without Saneka by his side. As they adjusted to their new life together, Tatsuhiko began to learn about the hidden world of gods and the supernatural.
