A series that was cut short in Shueisha’s *Weekly Shonen Jump* magazine is getting a new lease on life with a brand new anime. *Shonen Jump* has been undergoing significant changes this year, following the conclusion of several long-running series last year. The magazine is actively seeking its next big hit, which has resulted in at least ten series ending in 2025 – most due to cancellation, even with dedicated fan bases.
Shun Numa’s manga, *Super Psychic Policeman Chojo*, was unfortunately cancelled in Shonen Jump this past summer after just one year. However, it remains popular with fans, who are eagerly awaiting new installments. Excitingly, a new anime adaptation has been announced, scheduled to premiere sometime in 2026. You can find a first look at the *Super Psychic Policeman Chojo* anime below.
Super Psychic Policeman Chojo to Return With New Anime

Despite being cut short after 65 chapters, the popular series *Super Psychic Policeman Chojo* is continuing with a new English-language manga release planned for later this year. Now, an anime adaptation is in the works! Junichi Yamamoto will direct at ARVO ANIMATION, with Hayashi Mori writing the series and Masakatsu Sasaki designing the characters. While it’s expected to debut in 2026, specific release dates and where it will be available internationally haven’t been announced yet.
While other cancelled Shonen Jump series like *Black Torch* have gotten new anime adaptations, *Super Psychic Policeman Chojo*’s return is happening much sooner after its original run ended. The new anime is coming out just a year after the series was cancelled, which suggests Shueisha may have cancelled it too quickly. Fans continued to show strong support for the series even after it ended, hinting at its potential.
What Does This Mean for Shonen Jump?
It’s interesting how Shonen Jump often revives cancelled series with new anime projects. This really shows that Shueisha sometimes ends promising shows too early, prioritizing immediate fan reaction over long-term potential. While they’re searching for the next big hit, many potentially great series are cut short before they can truly develop or even prove themselves.
It’s unusual how quickly this new anime adaptation was announced after the source material began. We’ve seen adaptations announced as a series ends, but this fast turnaround is remarkable. If the anime does well, it could eventually outpace the original story it’s based on.
