Capcom Just Re-Released Two PS1 Exclusives Out of Nowhere

Before the recent PlayStation State of Play on February 12th, many Capcom fans were hoping for a reveal of Devil May Cry 6, fueled by rumors. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, and the update Capcom shared with fans was a bit of a letdown. Capcom did showcase new trailers for Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata during the presentation. However, they also had a surprise announcement after the event: the return of two classic games originally released on the PlayStation 1.

Capcom is having a fantastic moment with the success of games like Resident Evil and Monster Hunter, and they even have a highly anticipated new game in the works. However, many would agree that the company was at its absolute peak in the late 90s and early 2000s, releasing a wealth of incredible games. While many of those series are still going strong, some have been put on hold, and Dino Crisis is a prime example. If you never got a chance to play this classic survival-horror series, you can now find the original game and its sequel on Steam. And for a limited time, until February 26th, both games are 50% off, making them only $5 each!

Two Capcom Classics Finally on Steam

It’s great to see both Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 now available on Steam. These games aren’t easily found elsewhere in 2026—the first game is on PlayStation Store and GOG, but the second is only available through GOG.

If you haven’t played them, Dino Crisis came out in 1999 from the creators of Resident Evil, including Shinji Mikami. Many people describe it as Resident Evil but with dinosaurs! While it had a strong concept, it wasn’t as commercially successful as Resident Evil. The first game sold a few million copies and received a score of 84 on GameRankings, but it didn’t reach the same heights. Still, it did well enough to get a sequel the following year, and that game was also a success, though it sold fewer copies and earned an 81 on GameRankings.

The series saw a spin-off, Dino Stalker, in 2002 and finished with Dino Crisis 3 in 2003. After that, the franchise went quiet. It’s been over twenty years since the last game, and a revival seems less and less probable, making these new releases especially welcome.
