Capcom has consistently delivered popular and well-received games for years, achieving both critical praise and strong sales.
I’ve noticed Capcom’s been really leaning into their biggest hits like Resident Evil and Monster Hunter, which is great! But I’m hearing they might be starting to look at some of their older, less-played series too, and that’s really exciting as a fan. I’d love to see them bring those back!
According to a new report detailing the company’s yearly performance and plans for the future, COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto discussed several inactive game franchises, specifically mentioning Mega Man, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney.
Having highlighted the success of their key franchises, he then discussed revisiting other titles they own.
Capcom has many well-known and loved game series like Mega Man, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney. We plan to reach more players and improve our business by releasing new games, updated versions, and ports of these titles on modern platforms. Our goal is to strengthen these brands, build dedicated communities, and turn them into long-term, essential parts of our company.
Tsujimoto indicated that Capcom plans to create more games by releasing new titles, revisiting older ones with remakes, and bringing existing games to new platforms with ports.
Fans will be thrilled to hear this! Devil May Cry has been active with both DMC5, released in 2019, and its animated series on Netflix. Plus, almost all of the Ace Attorney games are now available on current systems, and Mega Man classics have been brought up to date with legacy collections.
This suggests Capcom has plans to further develop these properties into larger, more established franchises.
It’s unclear when we’ll see results, but the publisher has admitted it plans to do something with its less popular game franchises.
Capcom has several older franchises fans desperately want to see revived, like Dino Crisis, which people have been requesting for years.
We’d love to hear what you’re hoping to see next from Mega Man, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney! Let us know in the comments which other series you’d like us to revisit.
