Next week, Capcom will stop selling one of its PlayStation games permanently. Capcom is a hugely popular and long-running video game company, famous for franchises like Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, Mega Man, and Devil May Cry. While Capcom is a major player in the gaming world and has been particularly successful recently, the game being removed isn’t one of its newer titles, and it was never released outside of Japan. This means it’s now going to be more difficult for fans to obtain a copy.
I was surprised to find out that Capcom is taking Sengoku Basara 4: Sumeragi off the PlayStation Store on February 13th – at least the PS3 version. It’s a really expanded version of Sengoku Basara 4, and I know a lot of people still play it! The PS4 version is still up for now, but I’m guessing that won’t last forever. It’s a bit odd they’re only removing the PS3 version and they haven’t explained why, honestly.
Leaving the PlayStation Store on February 13, 2026
Capcom has announced that Sengoku Basara 4 Sumeragi, currently available on the PlayStation 3’s PlayStation Store, will no longer be available for purchase after February 13, 2026. The company has expressed gratitude for players’ continued support, but has not provided any further details regarding the decision.
So, it looks like the PS3 version of the game is getting pulled from the store, but the PS4 version is still up. That makes me think it’s probably a licensing issue – like the time on the license for the PS3 version is running out. If that’s true, we’ll almost certainly see the PS4 version disappear next year, since the PS3 version came out a year earlier and its license is expiring first. Honestly, I can’t think of any other reason why they’d be taking it down other than these licenses.
Okay, so if you’re hoping to get this game physically or through a Japanese PlayStation Network account, you can still grab the PS4 version – and honestly, it’s the better version, it has more content and just feels more polished. But you really need to hurry, because time’s running out to do that. Plus, I’m betting physical copies will start getting more expensive now that everyone’s finding out about this, since more people will be wanting them.
