Capcom has dampened speculations that the forthcoming PS5 game, Pragmata, might be a hidden Mega Man project.
Based on close examination of previews and trailers, enthusiasts are making correlations between Pragmata and the Mega Man series. These comparisons stem from notable similarities such as the prominent use of blue in the design of the robot girl, as well as shared elements like a moonbase controlled by machines. Some fans have gone so far as to speculate that Pragmata might actually be a rebranded Mega Man game.
As stated by the creator of Pragmata, Naoto Oyama, these connections are essentially mere coincidences. In an interview with VGC, Oyama humorously clarified that Pragmata is not a Mega Man game, but rather an entirely new creation from Capcom.
Oyama appreciates the enthusiasm of Mega Man fans towards Pragmata, since he was a producer for Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection. However, it’s important to note that there is no formal link between these two intellectual properties.
After its expected launch on PS5 in 2026, we’ve had multiple opportunities to play Pragamata and have been consistently impressed each time. Most recently, following a preview build at Gamescom, we expressed our strong admiration for the game, stating that we eagerly anticipate the full campaign.
