Capcom isn’t saying, leaving Resident Evil fans curious about Leon’s wife after finishing the latest game, Requiem.
As a huge fan, I was absolutely thrilled to notice something in the ending cutscene and some bonus art! Leon is wearing a wedding ring! It definitely seems like he’s gotten married to someone, and you can see it pretty clearly in the bottom-right corner of this concept art. It’s such a sweet detail and I’m so curious about who the lucky person is!
Dedicated Resident Evil fans are asking for clarification about Leon Kennedy’s marital status, as his wife is never referenced in the game’s story.
Eurogamer reached out to the company for clarification, and director Koshi Nakanishi explained that the meaning will be revealed eventually. He said the final scene was meant to show Leon finally having a home and encouraged players to picture him enjoying peaceful moments there.
Nakanishi then becomes more mysterious, observing that Leon doesn’t often talk about what’s really important to him. However, he’d instantly risk his life to save someone. This leads Nakanishi to wonder what Leon’s ring means – does it represent his determination, or a promise he’s made?
Okay, so it seems like Leon is deliberately keeping his marital status a secret! Nakanishi hinted we’ll find out eventually, “some day.” Leon actually said that even if he never tells us who he’s married to, he’s got somewhere to go home to after all this drama. And honestly? He thinks that’s enough for us, which… I kind of get, but I still want to know!
The new Resident Evil Requiem DLC might reveal who Leon is working with, and will expand on the game’s story. If not, we’ll probably find out in the next main Resident Evil game. Plus, players can expect a Photo Mode and extra bonus content to be added soon.
