Carrie Coon is getting candid about aging in Hollywood and the roles she’s offered.
In an interview with Glamour magazine, which came out on June 23, the 44-year-old actress from The Gilded Age confessed she’s frequently cast in roles portraying more seasoned characters that are typically labeled as “multi-layered.
In simpler terms, Coon stated that everyone has their unique persona. He comes across as articulate and intellectually inclined. His voice is deep and he doesn’t use botox, making him seem older than his actual age. Furthermore, he has always carried an air of seriousness or authority.
Known primarily for her roles as the formidable Bertha Russell in HBO’s “The Gilded Age” and the powerful corporate lawyer Laurie in “The White Lotus” season 3, Coon insists that she is quite distinct from the strong-willed characters she portrays.
The actress remarked to her family, “To you all, I appear as a jokester,” suggesting that they are often taken aback by the playful and silly side of her that occasionally surfaces on screen. Despite giving the impression of being overly defensive, she is actually quite relaxed and has a very cheerful disposition.
In a recent interview, Coon, who is a mother of two, mentioned that she can be quite playful and goofy. She said this while discussing her relationship with her husband, Tracy Letts.
In the chilly month of February, I found myself in an unexpected spotlight. You see, during a conversation, there was a bit of a misunderstanding about my personal life with fellow creative spirit, Letts, the esteemed playwright. I inadvertently hinted at our relationship being “open,” which promptly sparked curiosity among many. To set the record straight, I swiftly clarified our unique arrangement via X, putting any speculations to rest.
Calm down, online world! What I meant was ‘open-minded,’ not just ‘open.’ That’s what I said.” – Coon, expressed through X on February 25, after her comments on the “WTF With Marc Maron” podcast sparked debate on social media.
In the interview, Coon discussed her relationship with Letts, which she described as sharing stories about their on-set crushes and frequently noting individuals they find attractive.
Coon made it clear that they aren’t envious individuals or burdened by such feelings. They never desired to associate with the police, is what they meant.
She went on to say, ‘It’s important to keep an open mind about what stirs your emotions, captures your interest in the world, and ignites your creativity – where your enthusiasm lies.’ If you’re open to this, you’ll lead a richer, more fulfilling life.
