Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan have received a return ticket to Hollywood.
In the upcoming season 24, which marks the ninth season on ABC, the trio of judges from American Idol will return to preside over the singing competition show, as confirmed by the network on August 25.
In the previous season, Underwood, who triumphed in Season 4 back in 2005, first joined the judging panel. On the other hand, Richie and Bryan have been regular judges since 2018.
It is undecided whether longtime host Ryan Seacrest will come back to his role, following his recent assumption of hosting duties previously held by Pat Sajak on Wheel of Fortune.
Meanwhile, even though the upcoming season doesn’t air until next year, the virtual auditions for Season 9 of “Idol,” titled “Idol Across America,” begin on August 26. These auditions span every state in the U.S., as well as Washington D.C.
As a fervent aspirant, I’m excited to share that I could have a one-on-one demonstration of my skills with an American Idol producer, regardless of where in America I reside. This opportunity is available on any official audition date, giving me a shot at advancing to the judges’ round. Additionally, ABC allows for open call dates, meaning I can also audition then. And the cherry on top? The worldwide auditions are open to all eligible participants, so no matter where you are, you could be one step closer to stardom!
Following the end of season eight a few months ago, Bryan suggested that he was considering whether or not he would return to assist in discovering America’s next musical sensation.
The singer known as “Country Girl” stated to Taste of Country last month that deciding whether to move forward with a project is an annual, tentative process for them. They added, “Time will tell what the future holds.
However, Bryan only had kind words to say about working with his fellow season eight judges.
He went on to say that the previous year was exceptionally wonderful with Carrie, Lionel, and Ryan. Essentially, his message was to enjoy themselves during American Idol and have a good time with the contestants.
Following Jamal Roberts’ victory as Season 23 champion in May, Underwood reminisced about her complete journey coming full circle by going back to the show, a revisit that took place 20 years after she first won.
Backstage after tonight’s finale, I couldn’t help but express my awe to TopMob News. The top 10 artists who took the stage tonight were simply unparalleled; there isn’t another television event showcasing talent of this caliber. Each performance was flawless and unique in its own right.
American Idol makes its comeback in the year 2026. Until then, take a moment to reflect on Carrie Underwood’s 20-year odyssey – from winning American Idol to becoming one of its judges.
