Cartoon Network Classic Creator Reveals Plans For Series Sequel

In recent times, reviving animated series on streaming platforms has been a hit that has earned significant profits for companies. Hulu is among those cashing in with the return of shows like “King of the Hill,” “Futurama,” and “Animaniacs.” Meanwhile, Cartoon Network isn’t far behind, planning to reintroduce popular series in fresh formats. The cable network has announced new versions of fan favorites such as “Adventure Time,” “Regular Show,” “Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends,” and others. If one creator from Cartoon Network gets their wish, the platform could soon be welcoming back “Codename: Kids Next Door.

Code Name: The Kids Next Door has garnered much love among Cartoon Network admirers due to the captivating storylines crafted by creator Mr. Warburton. At the “Houston Nostalgia Con,” Warburton revealed that a script for the animated series’ sequel, titled “Galactic Kids Next Door,” has been penned and submitted to Warner Bros. The script is currently under review, but at the event, Warburton and the cast read a scene from the proposed sequel. As per the script, the “Kids” embark on an interstellar journey for undisclosed reasons; you can watch the performance in the video below.

Will The Kids Next Door Return?

The show known as “Codename: Kids Next Door” initially aired in 2001, narrating the story of a band of tech-savvy kids who battled against both teenagers and adults. These children remained young at heart, choosing not to grow up themselves, which made the series popular on Cartoon Network with six seasons and over eighty episodes. The “Kids” had their last appearance in 2008, and since then, there hasn’t been a new installment. Although the prospect of a sequel doesn’t guarantee that the kids will return, it is encouraging to learn that creator Mr. Warburton has ideas for the animated series to come back again.

It turns out that watching Codename: Kids Next Door might not be as simple as you thought, since it’s no longer available on HBO Max. Although you can still buy the seasons online at a cost, unfortunately, there’s no longer an option to stream them through a subscription service in North America. As for a sequel, creator Warburton has been brainstorming the idea for quite some time now – an animatic was even released in 2015 to help bring the series back to life.

Over time, locating Cartoon Network originals on HBO Max has grown increasingly challenging. Shows like “Courage The Cowardly Dog” and “The Powerpuff Girls,” among many others, have moved to different streaming platforms. Currently, services such as Tubi, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and others have gained from this shift. We’ll make sure to keep you informed about the top spots to find your favorite shows.
