Hollywood is seeing a huge trend of bringing back popular animated shows. Series like Futurama, King of the Hill, and Animaniacs have all returned after ending years ago, and even live-action shows are being reimagined as cartoons. Just recently, Firefly was announced to be continuing with its original cast in animated form. Given this success, it’s not surprising that Cartoon Network is also joining the revival movement. This year, the network will be bringing back the show that launched its original run, with plans for multiple new seasons.
Fans of The Amazing World of Gumball will be excited to hear that a complete DVD collection of the series is coming out on May 5th! The set, called The Amazing World of Gumball: The Complete Series, includes all 240 episodes from all six seasons, spread across fifteen discs. It’s available for pre-order now for about $80. Cartoon Network promises this set has everything fans love about the show – all the funny moments, catchy songs, and memorable characters from Elmore, all in one place!
Gumball’s Weird Worlds
While Cartoon Network is looking back at older shows, Hulu has found success with a new generation of The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball. In 2025, the show was actually Hulu’s most popular animated release, which is surprising considering the platform also revived King of the Hill. The fourteenth season of King of the Hill was a major hit, but Gumball still came out on top. Because of its popularity, the show has already been renewed for two more seasons after its current season ends, and it’s likely we’ll see even more seasons in the future.
Fans are excited about a new physical collection of the original Amazing World of Gumball series, but disappointed it won’t be released on Blu-Ray or 4K. The show’s unique animation would really shine in higher definition. Cartoon Network has released complete series sets on DVD before, like Regular Show and Adventure Time, so hopefully they’ll consider upgrading the physical releases for these and other popular shows in the future.
