Cartoon Network Series Pokes Fun At Ludicrous Schedule, Company Executives

Cartoon Network has faced a lot of changes lately, but some shows have remained consistently popular and avoided cancellation. Adult Swim still features long-running hits like Rick and Morty, and Toonami continues to focus on anime. However, the main Cartoon Network platform also boasts several well-known cartoons. Interestingly, one of the network’s longest-running superhero shows recently made a humorous reference to its own success, even including a Cartoon Network executive in the joke.

Teen Titans Go! debuted in 2013 and has since run for nine seasons, totaling nearly 436 episodes. Despite some fans disliking its comedic and satirical approach to the DC heroes, the show consistently received high ratings. For years, Cartoon Network frequently aired large blocks of Teen Titans Go!, sometimes even dedicating entire days to the series. Recently, the episode “Unmasking – The Teen Titans Story” featured real-life Warner Bros. Animation President Sam Register and Senior Vice President Vishnu Athreya playing themselves. The episode humorously depicted Vishnu replacing other popular cartoons with only Teen Titans Go!, demonstrating the show’s willingness to self-deprecate.

So you’re to blame for August and December 2017, Vishnu

Teen Titans Controversy Go

This summer, it was announced that Teen Titans Go! will be back for a tenth season next year, though we don’t yet know exactly when it will premiere or how many episodes there will be. Sadly, not all of the original actors may return. Greg Cipes, who voices Beast Boy, recently shared that he’s been dealing with Parkinson’s disease and has reportedly been let go by Warner Bros. from the role he loves.

For several years, Greg Cipes has been the voice of Beast Boy, starting with the original Teen Titans animated series and continuing in Young Justice and Teen Titans Go! He recently talked about being let go from the role, though Warner Bros. hasn’t officially confirmed his departure.

Scott Cipes said he was unexpectedly fired from Teen Titans Go! despite the show’s success leading to a tenth season. He believed he would continue voicing Beast Boy, a role he’d played for over 400 episodes for 23 years, and was feeling well after receiving treatment for Parkinson’s disease. He was surprised and upset to be let go and then asked to audition for the same role he’d been performing for so long.
