Wonderland Kazakiri has announced that the pixel art puzzle RPG, *CASSETTE BOY*, will now be available on Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, in addition to its already planned release on PlayStation 5, Switch, and PC (Steam).
Forever Entertainment will publish the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One versions of the game globally. For the Nintendo Switch, Forever Entertainment will handle publishing in North America and Europe, while Wonderland Kazakiri will publish it in Japan and Asia. Wonderland Kazakiri will also publish the PC version worldwide.
You can play CASSETTE BOY at Tokyo Game Show 2025, taking place September 25-28 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
Here is an overview of the game, via Wonderland Kazakiri:
“Does the moon cease to exist when I am not looking at it?”
The well-known question often linked to Einstein points to the puzzling nature of quantum mechanics. Taking inspiration from this, the artist *CASSETTE BOY* presents the innovative “Schrodinger System,” which proposes that anything not being observed ceases to exist.
The game looks like it’s made of classic pixel art, but it’s actually built in 3D. This allows for unique puzzle-solving – changing your camera angle and perspective can reveal new solutions. For instance, if something is hidden from view, it effectively disappears. Things like characters, enemies, and even projectiles can vanish simply by changing how you look at the world, creating new paths and possibilities.
Okay, so the game looks retro – think classic pixel art – but it’s not just a nostalgia trip. The puzzles *seem* familiar at first, like things you’ve seen before, but then they throw these unexpected twists at you. You can’t just solve them the way you normally would, which is really cool and keeps you on your toes!
This game blends a classic, retro look with completely new gameplay. It’s a puzzle RPG built around unique, quantum-based mechanics, offering a fresh experience with a nostalgic feel.
