Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Theories Get Debunked by Konami

Konami has addressed concerns about the new Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse game. Announced last month, Belmont’s Curse is the first new installment in the series since 2014. Some fans worried it wouldn’t feel like a classic Castlevania title because it’s being developed by Evil Empire, the team behind the roguelike game Dead Cells. However, Konami has confirmed that Belmont’s Curse will not be a roguelike.

In an interview with The Verge, Tommy Williams, Konami’s head of communications for America, confirmed that Belmont’s Curse will play like a traditional Castlevania game. While details are still limited, Williams made it clear the game won’t be a roguelike. Fans hoping for a similar experience to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and the later games on Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS should be pleased with Belmont’s Curse.

According to Williams, Castlevania Belmont’s Curse is a 2D action game focused on exploration, with large, detailed levels. He clarified that it’s not a roguelike or roguelite.

Belmont’s Curse Has Huge Potential

Konami, known for popular franchises like Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid, is bringing back Castlevania with its newest game, Belmont’s Curse. After reviving some of its classic series, Konami is hoping Belmont’s Curse will be a successful addition to the Castlevania legacy, making its performance particularly important.

If Belmont’s Curse does well, it could revitalize the Castlevania series. Konami would likely create more games, meaning fans wouldn’t have to wait as long as 14 years for the next installment.

The exact release date for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is still unknown, but it’s planned to launch sometime in 2026. When it’s released, it will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
