The show is modeled after the same-titled book and centers around renowned journalist Catherine Ravenscroft played by Blanchett. She gained her fame by exposing wrongdoings and misconducts in others.
However, upon receiving a novel from an unidentified writer, she finds herself shocked and dismayed to discover that she has become the central figure in a narrative that reveals her deepest, hidden truths.

Besides Lesley Manville from The Crown, Louis Partridge known for Enola Holmes, Leila George, and Hoyeon from Squid Game are also part of this production. Indira Varma assumes the role of the narrator.
