This week, 28-year-old actor, known for his roles in Netflix’s The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself and Channel 4’s Generation Z, chatted with TopMob at the Newport Beach Film Festival.

Joseph, why did you take this role?
The actress shared that she auditioned six times for the movie version of the popular Broadway musical. She was hoping to star alongside Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, but the role eventually went to singer Ariana Grande.
Because, as she has explained, he gets it.
I’m not easily shocked, but I’m genuinely surprised to see such a reserved actress in a film that opens with explicit outdoor love scenes. It’s a huge departure from her wholesome roles in shows like Peak Practice. I’m currently playing her mother and offering her tea – we’re filming in a comfortable hotel room in Chelsea Harbour – as she considers how to explain it.

Okay, so you won’t BELIEVE this! I’m, like, totally obsessed with this actor, and apparently, even his own kids aren’t impressed!
