Felix Wagner, publishing producer at ININ Games, stated that “R-Type is a hugely important game, and we’re incredibly proud to have partnered with Tozai to bring these classic games back to life in a big way.” He added that “Dimensions III is our biggest restoration and update project so far, designed for both dedicated fans and players experiencing R-Type for the very first time.”

Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which came out over two years ago, intentionally recaptures the feel of earlier games in the series with a smaller world and a focus on sneaking around. It recently got a large, free update called Valley of Memory, adding a new area to explore, new missions, and other content, and players have reacted positively to it.

Hamaguchi explained to GamesRadar that he didn’t initially plan for each installment in the series to feel the same. He believes the third part needs to be fresh and bigger in scope to be successful, and a key element of that evolution will be something called ‘Highwind’.
