A Texas grand jury indicted 57-year-old Ceja Alvarez this week, on November 17th, for the death of the voice actor from the show King of the Hill. The incident happened on June 1st, and Alvarez claims he acted in self-defense, which will be his defense in court. His lawyer stated on June 24th that Alvarez had been provoked and that Texas law allows people to defend themselves and others, a claim they intend to pursue in this case.
A great early example of this is seen in The Simpsons. The show famously broke the fourth wall, openly acknowledging it was a cartoon and that it would prioritize humor over realism. Starting November 1st, Tubi users can watch the 2005 horror film House of Wax. This remake of the 1953 movie follows a group of college friends, played by Elisha Cuthbert, Chad Michael Murray, Paris Hilton, and Jared Padalecki, who get stranded in a deserted town. There, they encounter a disturbing wax museum and must struggle to survive and avoid becoming the next displays. While critics didn’t love the film, it also faced legal issues—a $7 million lawsuit was filed after a fire on set damaged a studio owned by Village Roadshow Studios and Warner Bros. The Cosmic Marvel stories are ambitious, and Imperial had a lot to live up to. While the four-issue series successfully removed some unpopular recent storylines – like the Kree/Skrull alliance, which felt like a waste of potential for characters like Hulkling and Wiccan – it also unfortunately discarded many ideas that fans enjoyed. Imperial attempted to redefine the cosmic side of Marvel, but its major plot twist feels too similar to Watchmen, widely considered one of the best comics of all time. Marvel has been trying to replicate the success of Watchmen for years, and sadly, Imperial doesn’t quite achieve that goal.
