It’s no secret that the cabinet’s emergence has sparked much discussion among Sonic enthusiasts! A segment of these fans are eagerly anticipating the release of a cabinet for the 1993 Japanese arcade game, SegaSonic the Hedgehog. However, it seems more probable that we’ll be greeted with an arcade cabinet showcasing some classic Sega Genesis games instead. For instance, My Arcade’s Mega Man Micro Player Pro offers the first six Mega Man games, while the Atari 50 Micro Player Pro console houses over a hundred retro titles. Considering this pattern, it’s reasonable to expect a Sonic cabinet that would showcase various older titles, with strong contenders being Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. It’s also plausible we might witness the inclusion of the 12 Game Gear games that were part of Sonic Origins Plus. Yet, until a formal announcement is made, all of this remains speculation.
