I’m thrilled to share that starting October 15th, I’m diving into the 13th season of Overwatch 2, and this time it’s all about Spellbinder! Just as anticipated, it’s their spooktacular Halloween event, although there won’t be a fresh PvE extension to Junkenstein’s Revenge. Instead, we’re exploring a new PvP territory – Junkenstein’s Laboratory! Can’t wait to see what surprises await us there!
Initially, many people were hesitant about Bloober Team and Konami’s ability to create a genuinely good remake of Silent Hill 2. Given Bloober Team’s past work, they hadn’t yet demonstrated the skill level necessary for a studio tasked with remaking such a renowned game as Silent Hill 2. Moreover, Konami’s actions over the years had earned it a reputation for being unreliable among gaming communities. As a result, the skepticism surrounding Silent Hill 2’s remake in the years preceding its release was not unjustified. However, credit must be given where it is due.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been eagerly waiting for the full release of Offworld’s Starship Troopers: Extermination on PC, and now it’s here! But the adventure continues as this base-building/co-op shooter is also making its way onto Xbox Series X/S and PS5. The developer has given us a sneak peek into their plans with an updated Living Roadmap, promising some serious performance boosts, optimizations, and quality of life improvements in Q4 2024. They’re even adding a Loadout Locker to personalize our gaming experience! Can’t wait to see what else they have in store for us!
If you’re a fan of games that give you a good scare, there’s been no dearth of such titles lately. From the bone-chilling claustrophobic terror of P.T., to the gut-wrenching and profoundly dark fear of Dead Space, from the incessant tension of Alien: Isolation, to lesser-known but still deeply disturbing games like MADiSON, there’s no shortage of games that can send shivers down your spine. Now, after playing Bloober Team and Konami’s remake of Silent Hill 2, it’s clear that this game fits right in with those other terrifying titles.
In the realm of 3D platformers, it’s rare to find offerings from major studios beyond Nintendo and Sega these days, as the genre has predominantly shifted towards independent developers. The latest addition to this indie platformer scene is Europa, developed by Chozabu and Novadust Entertainment. This game takes visual cues from Studio Ghibli’s works, with its rich, vivid environments featuring soft edges and bright colors, reminiscent of their iconic animated landscapes.
Throughout its journey, I’ve seen Bloober Team stumble a bit in the past, so it wasn’t too shocking or unfair to see skepticism surrounding their remake of Silent Hill 2 before its release. Yet, just as the doubts were valid, so is the torrent of praise that has followed. Now, with the global launch on PS5 and PC, Silent Hill 2 has proven everyone wrong and miraculously hit a home run. The survival horror remake has left critics and audiences awestruck, surpassing all expectations.
