Many of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) least successful films-both in terms of box office revenue and Rotten Tomatoes scores-have been released after Endgame. However, the most noticeable change is how unfocused the MCU has become. This lack of direction was apparent even when Kang the Conqueror was intended to be the main villain of the Multiverse Saga, and it’s even more pronounced now that Doctor Doom is taking on that role. A consistent vision and excitement have been missing, so it’s understandable that Marvel is looking to its history to improve its future.

Apple’s newest release is the R-rated movie The Lost Bus, a film inspired by the amazing real-life events surrounding a bus driver and a teacher. They bravely drove 22 children to safety amidst the devastating 2018 fire that destroyed Paradise, California. Directed by Paul Greengrass, the film features Matthew McConaughey as Kevin McKay, America Ferrera as Mary Ludwig, and Ashlie Atkinson as Ruby Hartwig. Jamie Lee Curtis not only produced the film but was also a driving force behind it. Now, this moving story is beginning to resonate with viewers and climb the streaming charts.

Before that, Nintendo recently launched Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. These are updated versions of the two beloved games originally released on the Wii. While the remasters aren’t perfect and have a few strange downgrades, they largely stay true to the originals and offer a welcome improvement. This has Nintendo fans looking forward to what might be coming for The Legend of Zelda next year. Since Skyward Sword HD came out on Nintendo Switch in 2021, there’s been speculation about remasters of Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, and The Wind Waker.

Final Fantasy XII and Square Enix have rewritten the backstory of another game – a PlayStation title that wasn’t initially connected to the Final Fantasy series. Vagrant Story was a fantastic, yet overlooked game, existing as its own separate story. However, the game’s lead developer, Yasumi Matsuno, later revealed that the PS1 game actually takes place in Ivalice – the same world featured in Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy Tactics – largely to please fans.

Even though it’s difficult to picture anyone other than the original actors playing the memorable characters from The Vampire Diaries, especially almost ten years after the show ended, the series could have looked quite different. This is common for television shows-many actors are considered during casting before final decisions are made. However, in the case of The Vampire Diaries, several stars were seriously considered for roles, and some of those choices would have drastically changed the show-and potentially impacted other franchises, like the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

So, it’s looking like Xbox Game Pass is about to get a whole lot more brutal! Apparently, NetherRealm Studios and WB Games are planning to add Mortal Kombat 1 to the service. It makes sense, since Microsoft basically funds these additions, and it’s a fantastic way to get new people hooked on the game, even if they’re only playing it for a little while. There hasn’t been a formal announcement just yet, but this is about as official as it gets without them actually saying it themselves.

Players of Need for Speed: Rivals have just about two days left to play the game online. The servers will be switched off on October 6th. We’ve been aware the game was ending since summer, and that date is now here. However, it appears not many players are going back for one last race. Steam’s active player count shows the EA game has only reached a little over 100 players in the last 24 hours.

The Mandalorian and Grogu is the film intended to revitalize the Star Wars franchise in cinemas. It’s a sensible, though predictable, decision considering how well-loved the TV series has become. However, alongside the announcements in the initial trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu, it was also significant that the movie was revisiting certain elements of the show that might have been left out otherwise. This isn’t unusual for Star Wars in general, but it’s a pattern that’s been developing with The Mandalorian over the last four years, with mixed results.

The main point, naturally, is that the Justice Gang steps in for the Justice League and arrives just in time to save the world from the Butterfly invasion. This can make you overlook the significant scenes and characters that aren’t included. Luckily, the DC Universe isn’t abandoning any storylines. It actually introduced another character from the DC Extended Universe, guaranteeing their heartbreaking tale won’t be lost.
