In the aftermath, Guts is left alone in a cave where two Kushan citizens, Daiba and Silat, contemplate his fate. Daiba observes that the cave is strangely disconnected from reality, even beyond his ability to understand. He believes it holds a terrifying emptiness, stating that in complete darkness and silence, one can only confront themselves. He wonders what horrors this darkness might unleash as there is nothing to focus on but one’s own inner self.
