Robert Redford, Oscar Winner and MCU Star, Dies at 89

Charles Redford Jr. was born in Santa Monica, California, and, like many actors at the time, began his career on television. He appeared in popular westerns such as *Maverick* and *The Deputy*, as well as classic shows like *The Twilight Zone* and *Alfred Hitchcock Presents*. He soon moved into films, making his debut in the 1962 war movie *War Hunt*. Redford quickly gained recognition in Hollywood, starring with Marlon Brando and Jane Fonda in *The Chase* in 1966, just before his breakthrough role in *Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid* three years later.
