As a huge Stephen King fan, I’ve always been fascinated by Randall Flagg. He pops up in some of King’s biggest stories, most famously in The Stand and The Dark Tower series – where he’s known as the Man in Black or Walter O’Dim. Because those books are so well-loved and important to the horror and fantasy genres, they’ve been made into movies and shows a bunch of times. It’s really interesting to see different actors take on the role of Flagg, and how each team tries to show that mix of incredible power and pure evil that makes him such a compelling villain. It’s a testament to how complex King writes his bad guys!

Starting January 14th, all five Hunger Games movies will be available to stream on Peacock. They were previously on HBO Max but were removed at the end of November, so they haven’t been available for streaming until now. This isn’t the first time the films have been on Peacock. The series, based on Suzanne Collins’ novels, takes place in a futuristic, ruined version of the United States called Panem. In this dark world, children are selected from each of Panem’s 12 districts to compete in a televised fight to the death known as the Hunger Games.

A funny new clip from the marketing for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy shows Cadets Jay-Den Kraag (Karim Diané) and Caleb Mir (Sandro Rosta) encountering The Doctor (Robert Picardo). The clip is a comedy of errors as The Doctor tries to help the cadets with their unusual issues – one has a parasitic maggot, and the other accidentally swallowed her communication badge. He’s visibly unimpressed with the pair!

The anime adaptation of the light novel series Skeleton Knight in Another World, by Ennki Hakari and KeG, originally premiered in 2022 and is currently available on Crunchyroll. Now, exciting news: a second season has been confirmed and will be released this July as part of the Summer 2024 anime lineup.

I was so excited when I heard People We Meet on Vacation was getting a movie adaptation! But honestly, the disappointment started right away with the casting choices. It just didn’t feel right compared to how I pictured the characters in the book, and it’s only gotten worse from there. The story follows Poppy and Alex, who are best friends but live far apart.
