Things have gone from bad to really bad. It turns out Braka completely outsmarted us. He lured the entire Starfleet fleet – all except the badly damaged Athena – into a trap. He got us to pull all our ships back to Federation space, and then sealed off the area with a massive minefield. These aren’t ordinary mines, either. They react to any energy signature, so if a ship tries to get through, it could trigger a chain reaction, rip open subspace, and… well, it wouldn’t be pretty for anyone nearby. It’s a disaster.

Sometimes, when an anime tries something new, not living up to initial hopes can actually be a positive thing. But usually, it means the show is starting to decline, and it’s hard to recover. For anime like The Promised Neverland, it results in a disappointing ending. In other cases, viewers become frustrated and lower their expectations for the series.

People continue to enjoy Assassin’s Creed games, even the weaker ones, often finding even the simplest parts of them comforting and familiar. There’s one game, however, that was heavily criticized when it first came out and ultimately led to a major overhaul of the entire series: Unity. The popular manga series Witch Hat Atelier by Kamome Shirahama is getting its first anime adaptation this April as part of the Spring 2024 anime season. Released in January by Amazon MGM Studios, Mercy didn’t do well in theaters for Chris Pratt. The film follows detective Chris Raven (Pratt) who is accused of his wife’s murder. He must prove his innocence in court, but the court uses A.I. judges – including one played by Rebecca Ferguson of Silo – and he only has 90 minutes before his execution. While critics didn’t like the movie and it failed to attract audiences in theaters, Mercy is coming to Prime Video on March 22nd, potentially giving it a second chance to find viewers.
