Despite mixed reactions, Zack Snyder’s DC films still have a dedicated following. Considering his past work with Netflix, there’s a small chance his vision for the DC universe could continue on the streaming platform once Netflix has control of those characters. A recent development has made that possibility a little more likely.
The United States Department of Damage Control (DODC) first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Initially, its job was to clean up the messes left behind after battles involving people with superpowers, starting with the 2012 Battle of New York. But after Tony Stark’s death in Avengers: Endgame, the DODC has become more like a police force for enhanced individuals. We’ve seen this shift in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and the upcoming Wonder Man series, which will be available on Disney+ starting January 27th. According to reports from The Cosmic Circus, Tramell Tillman is playing the new director of the DODC.
A recent episode of the Gaming for the Culture podcast featured Sweet Baby Inc. producer Maria Beck discussing critics of her company. During the conversation, critics were described as “cis white men” who are against diversity. Although the podcast host initially used this phrasing, Beck consistently agreed with it and didn’t dispute or correct the characterization.
Marvel Studios is working on a new X-Men movie with Jake Schreier – the director of Thunderbolts* – at the helm. While no actors have been confirmed yet, the film is expected to be released sometime after Avengers: Secret Wars, which is scheduled for December 2027.
The main villains will be played by Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem and Jason Momoa as Lobo. Kara is pursuing them, seeking revenge for the death of a young girl’s father. While the initial trailer didn’t show much of these characters, it still generated a lot of excitement for the movie.
Later, Fuchs shared some specifics about the planned Lobo movie. He explained Michael Bay was attached to direct, and described the film’s tone as a blend of Guardians of the Galaxy and a Quentin Tarantino film. Fuchs also revealed a scene that would have been a parody of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, featuring a villain desperately pleading for his life by revealing his mother’s name is Martha. Lobo would respond that his mother is also named Martha, but would still kill the villain.
Critics loved the series, and The Glory received excellent reviews, but it didn’t become as popular with a wide audience as Squid Game or Netflix’s zombie series, All of Us Are Dead. This could be because The Glory is a crime thriller, while the other two shows fall into the science fiction and horror genres.
Based on the popular book series by Sara Shepard, the teen drama Pretty Little Liars first aired on Freeform in 2010 and ran for seven seasons, ending in 2017. While the show had three follow-up series, none were as successful. Now, eight years after the original show ended, fans are excited because the cast seems to be hinting at a possible revival or continuation.
As of today, the movie The Housemaid has a positive score of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 61 critic reviews. This is a significant improvement for the actress, as her previous films haven’t performed as well – some were poorly reviewed, while others barely qualified as “fresh.” She started the year with Echo Valley, which received a 52% rating, but her recent movies, including Americana, have seen her ratings climb, earning “fresh” designations with scores of 66% and 64% respectively.
