People usually think of Martin Scorsese or Steven Spielberg when they think of that era, but Tarantino was actually most inspired by Brian De Palma, a master of suspense from that time. De Palma, heavily influenced by Alfred Hitchcock, created classic thrillers like Sisters, Dressed to Kill, and Body Double. These films have only grown more iconic over the years. While De Palma made many great movies, including some that redefined gangster films, Tarantino especially recommends his 1981 film Blow Out, considering it a true masterpiece.

The story was gripping and ended in a way that felt complete and satisfying – a rare treat in horror films. However, Blumhouse has decided to revisit the story with Black Phone 2.

When young detective Shane Parris-Gable’s estranged mother passes away, he unexpectedly inherits his family’s old home in Salem. They’re greeted by Shane’s friendly Uncle Nelson and his grandmother, who is elderly and losing her memory, and receive some surprising news about trying to have a baby. But soon after arriving, strange and unsettling events begin to occur, and the couple realizes they’re caught up in a dark, ancestral evil connected to both sides of Shane’s family.

The success of the Underworld franchise launched Kate Beckinsale into stardom. She played the vampire Selene in four out of the five films, becoming the most recognizable face of the series. And it’s not just Johnny Depp starring – Andrea Riseborough is going to be in it too! We’ve got a release date to look forward to now: November 13th, 2026. I’ve already marked my calendar!
