Despite a string of recent hits like *Severance*, *The Studio*, and *Slow Horses* – all of which received over 90% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes – the new series *The Last Frontier* hasn’t been well-received. Critics initially gave it a 57% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and that score has since fallen. It also hasn’t found a large audience, failing to rank among the most-watched shows after premiering on October 10th, according to FlixPatrol.

Leslie Grace was set to star as Batgirl in a movie planned for HBO Max in 2022, but Warner Bros. unexpectedly cancelled the project, reportedly for financial reasons. Now, there’s renewed hope that the movie might actually be completed and released.

Michael Mann announced at a festival in Lyon that his long-planned Western, *Comanche*, is finally happening. He revealed that Scott Cooper will direct the film. Mann has two screenplays for Westerns, and while he won’t be directing this one himself, he’s producing it and has chosen Cooper to bring it to life. Cooper is known for directing films like *Black Mass* (with Johnny Depp), *Antlers* (with Keri Russell), and *The Pale Blue Eye* (with Christian Bale). He’s currently working on a musical biopic about Bruce Springsteen.

SAIPAN tells the dramatic story of Roy Keane, a famous football player, and his manager, Mick McCarthy, focusing on the lead-up to Ireland’s controversial 2002 World Cup. Their intense personal conflict captivated the nation and the sports world. While seemingly about maintaining high standards, the dispute was fundamentally an emotional clash between two men whose rivalry and dislike for each other ultimately overshadowed their passion for football. This is the complete and final story of one of the most bitter and public disagreements ever seen in sports.

It’s surprising that we haven’t seen more horror movies explore the natural fear of empty, isolated places. However, director Scott Derrickson does just that with *Black Phone 2*, creating a frightening and surprisingly thoughtful horror film. The movie isn’t just visually striking – think a serial killer ice skating with an axe! – it also manages to be genuinely moving and emotionally resonant.

The 1999 film *The Mummy* brought the classic Universal Monsters back to life, reimagining the original 1930s movie with updated special effects and a faster pace. Directed by Stephen Sommers, it transformed the series into an action-packed horror adventure, leading to two follow-up films and even a cartoon series. Even now, nearly 30 years later, *The Mummy* continues to be a popular and influential film that new audiences are still enjoying.

I’m so excited that ‘Per New Line Cinema’ is coming to HBO Max on October 24th! If you prefer watching on regular TV, you can catch it on HBO the very next day, October 25th, at 8 pm. It’s amazing how quickly it’s becoming available to stream – just over two and a half months after hitting theaters on August 8th, and only a month and a half since its initial release.

Mary Shelley’s *Frankenstein*, ever since the famous 1931 film with Boris Karloff, has inspired many of the greatest horror movies ever made. Even when filmmakers try to make a lighter, more humorous version, the story’s unsettling and disturbing elements always shine through. Fans of the original novel have plenty of film adaptations to choose from, though some are much more successful than others.

Starting November 14, 2025, the movie *Madame Web* will no longer be available on Netflix in the U.S. and will instead stream on Disney+. What’s On Netflix reports that the film was on Netflix for about a year and a half. Currently, *Madame Web* isn’t available on Disney+ outside of the U.S. because the agreement between Sony and Disney only covers streaming rights in the U.S. after its initial theatrical release.
