Now in his seventies, Phil Tippett is still actively working in film. After decades of effort, he finally released his stop-motion animation film, ‘Mad God,’ in 2022. Throughout his career, he’s also contributed to many other well-known movies, including ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’ (he worked on the mine truck sequence), ‘Willow,’ two ‘Robocop’ sequels, ‘The Twilight Saga,’ and even ‘Howard the Duck’.

After leaving film school, he quickly gained attention with his first film, ‘Hard Eight’ in 1996. However, it was ‘Boogie Nights,’ released the following year, that truly established him as a remarkably talented and innovative director. The film, which he also wrote, centers on Jack Horner (Burt Reynolds), a porn producer with artistic ambitions, and his discovery of a promising young actor, Eddie Adams (Mark Wahlberg), nicknamed Dirk Diggler.

This show takes place in a dangerous future where overpopulation and pollution have devastated Earth. To survive, humanity has traveled back in time to a prehistoric era filled with dinosaurs and dense jungles. The first episode, ‘Genesis,’ introduces this challenging new world. The colonists of Terra Nova not only face threats from giant insects, rapidly growing plants, and dinosaurs, but also from the Sixers – a group of rebellious settlers who have their own hidden plans.

Unlike the optimistic vision of space travel in Star Trek, the reality for those doing the hard labor in space is likely to be harsh, dangerous, and uncaring about the well-being of individuals.

The last episode of My Hero Academia truly puts the heroes to the test, forcing them to face the potential for past mistakes to repeat. Ultimately, it powerfully reinforces the show’s central message: anyone can be a hero if they’re willing to help others. While longtime manga readers might feel like something’s missing, that’s likely just the difficulty of seeing the story end.

Before finishing up production on Welcome to Derry, the director and his sister, producer Barbara Muschietti, chatted with fans during a live question-and-answer session on Reddit.
