23 Years Later, Firefly Is Still Haunted by the Saddest Character Arc in Sci-Fi TV History

Joss Whedon, facing challenges at the time, created Firefly, which first aired on Fox in the fall of 2002. Fox had a reputation for quickly canceling promising science fiction shows, and Firefly seemed to be picked up with the hope it would become another Buffy the Vampire Slayer – but faster. Essentially, Firefly draws inspiration from the experiences of American Civil War veterans and Jewish resistance fighters during World War II. Captain Malcolm Reynolds and Corporal Zoe Washburn fought for independence against a controlling government called “the Alliance,” but they lost. Now they live on the edges of society with a crew of outcasts, including River and Simon Tam. Unlike the others, the Tam siblings came from wealth and privilege. River, a remarkably gifted child, attended an Alliance school but was taken hostage, tortured, and turned into a weapon. Her story should have been about overcoming terrible trauma and finding healing and love within the crew. Unfortunately, because the series only lasted 13 episodes plus a movie, River doesn’t get that satisfying resolution.

DC & Marvel Stun Fans With 2 New Crossover Comics

As a fan, it’s always been exciting to see DC and Marvel team up! It all started way back in 1976 with a legendary comic called Superman vs The Amazing Spider-Man: The Battle of the Century. After that, they did a few more crossover events here and there throughout the rest of the 20th century, but they weren’t super frequent.

Ex-WWE Star Braun Strowman Releases Tearful Video About Everything On The Menu’s Ratings

I was really touched by a post from Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson this week. He was celebrating how well Everything on the Menu is doing – it gained over 146,000 new viewers just last week! He started off sounding proud, which is totally him, but it quickly turned really heartfelt. He talked about being unsure of what his life would look like after wrestling, and it was just a really raw, honest, and emotional moment. I highly recommend checking it out – it’s a side of him you don’t always see.

James Gunn’s Controversial Superman Origin Retcon Has A Much Deeper Meaning

The upcoming 2025 Superman movie seems like a fresh start for both the character and superhero films in general, and it’s generating a lot of excitement for the new DC Universe and the many projects planned for the next few years. The film focuses on a hopeful message and a straightforward battle between good and evil, bringing a welcome simplicity back to the genre.

What’s The Deal With All The Eggs in Anime?

Eggs appear surprisingly often in anime, both classic and modern, and there are several reasons why. Some shows, like Pokémon and Angel’s Egg, feature eggs as a core part of their stories. Others, such as Wonder Egg Priority, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and Berserk, use eggs as symbols. Finally, series like Dragon Ball, Food Wars, and One Piece simply include eggs for their visual appeal or because they’re commonly eaten in real life.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 3 Review: I Couldn’t Look Away As Things Get More Tense For Utah’s Reality Star Moms

Like many reality shows, this one features plenty of drama, conflict, and over-the-top lifestyles. However, what sets these women apart is their faith – they are all members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (often called Mormons), and practice it in different ways. While their faith is part of the show’s appeal, it’s really their personalities and the relationships between them that make it entertaining – and sometimes a little awkward.

Netflix Greenlights New Adult Animated Workplace Series

The new comedy series Living the Dream centers around best friends Des and Ray, two Londoners who feel like they deserve more out of life. They’re currently stuck working in social media for a company called Ecofood, and navigating the usual workplace challenges – including awkward romances, HR issues, and demands from the Los Angeles head office. They also have to contend with Ray’s disapproving father. Similar to the animated series Bob’s Burgers, Living the Dream will also feature a strong family dynamic.
