Since the release of Avengers: Endgame in 2019, Marvel’s storytelling has largely focused on the Multiverse Saga, introducing many alternate realities. However, it appears Marvel Studios plans to move away from these parallel worlds when this current storyline concludes, aiming for a simpler, more focused approach going forward. Considering the mixed reactions to the Multiverse Saga so far, this shift isn’t unexpected. Marvel seems to want to return to a balance of strong character development and creative worldbuilding, rather than relying too much on familiar faces and gimmicks. One upcoming project, in particular, seems to offer the most promising way to achieve this.

James Cameron delayed the release of his Avatar sequels because he wanted the visual effects to be truly groundbreaking. While originally planned for 2024 and 2025, only one of the four sequels has been released so far. That will change on December 19th with the premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash, which was previously the scheduled release date for Avatar 5.

Myrtle is a well-remembered character from the Harry Potter series who first appeared in The Chamber of Secrets. Interestingly, despite playing a ghost who is eternally 14 years old, the actress who portrayed her, Shirley Henderson, was actually in her 30s. She discussed the challenge of playing such a young character in an interview with Radio Times, saying:

It’s interesting, because he doesn’t typically play the outright bad guy, even though he can – I mean, remember that truly awful reverend in The Devil All the Time? More often, though, his characters are fascinatingly flawed – not exactly heroes, but not purely villains either, which makes them so compelling. When he came back to big-budget films with Tenet and The Batman, it was refreshing to see him firmly on the side of the good guys.

Even with its flaws, The Rings of Power doesn’t prove Amazon is incapable of making good fantasy. Actually, some of the best fantasy stories of recent years have come from Prime Video. The surprising thing is that Amazon’s biggest successes in the fantasy genre aren’t the live-action shows – they’re animated series.

As a huge fan, I think Jon M. Chu really nailed telling Elphaba and Glinda’s story over two movies. It gave both of them so much more room to develop as characters – something the stage show just couldn’t quite do. Both Part One and For Good are stunning to watch and listen to, and honestly, they’ve connected with audiences on a really deep level, even if critics haven’t always loved them. I was a little worried about how they’d adapt the second half of Wicked, but the screenwriters, Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox, made some fantastic changes that actually made For Good even better than I think it would have been otherwise!

A new book about the Fast & Furious franchise, called Welcome to the Family, reveals disagreements between director Justin Lin, Vin Diesel, and Diesel’s sister/producer Samantha Vincent over the script for Fast X. The main point of contention was the ending: early drafts suggested that Dominic Toretto’s son, nicknamed “Little Brian,” was actually the biological son of the villain, Dante. While some believed this twist – having Dom protect a child who wasn’t his – was a compelling and dramatic development, Diesel reportedly opposed the idea.

Despite its popularity, Attack on Titan wasn’t afraid to take risks and surprise viewers, as seen in its divisive ending. The show consistently challenged expectations, not only in its plot twists but also through the unique titans themselves – from unusually powerful monsters to those with the ability to see the future.

Vince Gilligan, the creator of Breaking Bad and a producer on The X-Files, has another success on his hands with Pluribus. The show has received excellent reviews and become a record-breaker for Apple TV. Due to its popularity, Apple TV has announced that episode 5 will now premiere on Wednesday, November 26th, instead of the originally scheduled Friday, November 28th.
