Netflix’s new comedy series is quickly becoming a hit in the U.S., currently ranking among the top three most popular shows. Critics and viewers alike are loving this funny and uplifting series, making it a great choice for a weekend binge-watching session.
In the crowded world of TV crime shows, CBS’s Elsbeth stands out with its humorous approach, often featuring killers with surprisingly quirky reasons for their actions, and guest stars you’ll recognize. The latest episode showcased Dianne Wiest as a nun who committed murder in a bizarre attempt to save her convent – her plan involved orchestrating the death of pop star Alaïa Jane by causing her to fall from a bell tower. It was a uniquely inventive crime, and Mother Constance quickly became one of my favorite characters on the show, rivaling Nathan Lane’s performance from Season 2.
In The Rise of Skywalker, the Knights of Ren were shown working with Kylo Ren to control the First Order and track down Rey on Pasaana. However, after Kylo Ren was redeemed as Ben Solo, it became clear their real loyalty was to Darth Sidious. Ultimately, Ben Solo killed them, effectively ending the Knights of Ren.
Despite the recent setbacks, Spider-Man fans have several exciting projects to look forward to. Beyond the Spider-Verse is scheduled for release in June 2027, and Spider-Man (possibly in multiple versions) will appear in Avengers: Secret Wars that December. Plus, Insomniac Games is reportedly working on Spider-Man 3, continuing the popular PlayStation 5 series. Even before those releases, Spider-Man is confirmed to appear in four significant movies and shows coming out in 2026.
I’m so excited! Kelsey Grammer just confirmed he’ll be sharing scenes with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in the MCU! He was talking to Entertainment Weekly and they asked who he hadn’t worked with before from the old X-Men movies, and he specifically mentioned Thor. He didn’t want to give away too many details, which is totally understandable, but just knowing they’ll be together on screen is awesome!
I’m really enjoying HBO’s It: Welcome to Derry – it’s a huge hit and everyone seems to love it! But before this show came out, another Stephen King adaptation actually premiered earlier this year. It wasn’t quite the massive streaming sensation It: Welcome to Derry is, and it got a pretty average score of 64% on Rotten Tomatoes, but it was still worth checking out.
Shows like Fringe and The Expanse prove what can happen when creators are given the time, creative freedom, and resources to explore complex ideas. Beyond that, these series feature characters facing tough decisions, tackle relevant political themes, and present mysteries that go beyond simple adventure. Thanks to longer seasons, they can build richer worlds, develop more nuanced characters, and fully explore their concepts.
Disney+’s series The Acolyte launched on June 4, 2024, concluding on July 16th. Though critics mostly liked the show, it proved divisive among viewers, and ratings decreased throughout the season. So, when creator Leslye Headland found out it wouldn’t be renewed for a second season, she wasn’t surprised. When asked by The Wrap whether low viewership or creative differences were the main reason for the cancellation, she responded:
I’ve seen so many post-apocalyptic stories, and honestly, most of them just don’t stick with you. The original I Am Legend movie was a bit of a mixed bag. Critics weren’t thrilled because it really changed a lot from the book and made the story pretty simple. But even though it wasn’t a critical success, people really loved it and went to see it, which is why they’re now making another one!
