I’ve always been fascinated by Pennywise, and Stephen King’s backstory for him is incredibly compelling – but honestly, it doesn’t quite hold up under scrutiny. Over the years, King has expanded on the lore of Pennywise and his kind, adding layers and details, which has unfortunately created a few plot holes. I’m really hoping the new It: Welcome to Derry series can smooth those things out and give us a consistent, satisfying explanation. I’m excited to see how they tackle it!

Disney’s So Weird was a surprisingly dark show for its time, and it could have been even more intense. While the third season was a little less spooky than earlier episodes, that wasn’t the initial intention. With almost thirty years having passed since its debut, now is the ideal moment to revisit the series and finally give it the conclusion it deserves on Disney+.

Mattson Tomlin is a rising name in superhero films, notably contributing to The Batman (though uncredited) and officially co-writing its sequel with director Matt Reeves. While he’s proven his talent with Gotham stories, he’s also expressed a strong interest in working on Spider-Man. Earlier this month, Tomlin shared that he’d love to pitch a fourth film featuring the web-slinger, and when asked if he thought it would actually happen, he said:

Tubi has announced that the Japanese version of Tokyo Godfathers will be available to stream with English subtitles starting November 1, 2025. The film is directed by Satoshi Kon, who is famous for his 1997 psychological thriller Perfect Blue, as well as other acclaimed works like Millennium Actress (2001), Paranoia Agent (2004), and Paprika (2006). Tokyo Godfathers is unique in Kon’s filmography as it’s often considered a holiday anime, and its script was co-written by Keiko Nobumoto, known for her work on Cowboy Bebop.

Disney’s live-action remakes started to receive less positive reviews and earn less money at the box office. After the movie Snow White was particularly poorly received, Disney announced they were cancelling plans for a remake of The Aristocrats, suggesting they might be rethinking this trend.

Beowulf is the second film in director Robert Zemeckis’ series of motion-capture movies, and it’s arguably the least known. While inspired by the ancient Old English poem from around 700 A.D., the film updates the story’s location and events. One reason it’s not as popular as Zemeckis’ other films is its mature content. Unlike those, which are now holiday favorites, Beowulf explores adult themes, including a controversial nude scene with Angelina Jolie – though it’s animated, so some don’t consider it truly explicit. Despite this, Beowulf is a bold and visually impressive film that deserves more recognition.

While these eight movies aren’t typical, they’re engaging enough to attract a wider audience and get people curious about them.

Sylvester Stallone appeared to retire from playing Rocky after Rocky V in 1990, following years of intense boxing movies. But he surprised audiences by returning to the role in Rocky Balboa sixteen years later. Then, in 2015, the Rocky story continued with Creed, a new film that focused on Adonis Creed, the son of Apollo Creed, played by Michael B. Jordan, while still featuring Stallone as Rocky. In an interview with GQ, Stallone shared that he managed to avoid having his character killed off, which was initially the director Ryan Coogler’s plan. He explained that he was lucky to escape that fate.
