Nearly every episode of Doctor Who features the Doctor traveling through time and space in the TARDIS, usually with a companion. A typical adventure involves the Doctor arriving somewhere, discovering a problem, fixing it, and then leaving. While episodes often vary, most stick to this familiar formula, which has been successful for the show for many years. However, it’s always exciting when an episode breaks from tradition and tries something new.

I was listening to James Cameron on Matthew Belloni’s podcast, The Town, and it was fascinating! He really dove into what’s happening in Hollywood right now, especially all the big battles going on at Warner Bros. He also shared some thoughts on AI, which is something I’m always curious about from a filmmaker’s perspective. Of course, we talked about Avatar: Fire and Ash, and he made it clear that its performance will be a big test to see if he can keep building out that Avatar world the way he envisions. When asked about other projects he’s working on, he mentioned the Hiroshima film is further off than anyone’s expecting – a bit disappointing to hear, but understandable given the scope of his work.

One of his most notable roles is in a highly-rated crime thriller, earning a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes. This critically praised Netflix series, which aired from 2018 to 2021, features Luna playing a powerful cartel boss. His performance is just as strong as his work as Cassian Andor, and in some ways, even more impressive.

The stars of Stranger Things – Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, and Finn Wolfhard – recently played a game with Vanity Fair called Hot Seat. The first question they tackled was ranking all the seasons of Stranger Things from best to worst.

This comedy series features a world where animals act like humans. It centers around Judy Hopps, a cheerful rabbit police officer, and Nick Wilde, a cunning fox and former con artist, who eventually becomes her partner.

The film begins in Vietnam in 1968 with a mission involving Green Berets that quickly fails, and the soldiers go missing. Colonel Jericho (Jeremy Piven, clearly enjoying his over-the-top role) then assembles a special team – the Vulture Squad – to find them. This elite group, though not always convincingly portrayed as soldiers, is led by the hardened Sgt. Baker (Ryan Kwanten).

As a critic, I’ve seen plenty of villains, but Bev Keane in Midnight Mass truly stood out. Everyone was rightly scared of the mysterious ‘Angel,’ and felt sympathy for Father Paul, but looking back, Bev was the real threat. She wasn’t some monster acting on impulse; she was a quietly terrifying force, manipulating events from the shadows. While we were focused on the supernatural, she was the one actually in control, deciding the fate of Crockett Island with a chilling calm. She wasn’t just a busybody; she was the architect of the town’s destruction, and that made her far more frightening.

Okay, so a lot of these characters are way different in the MCU than they were in the comics, but honestly, it’s a good thing! They really revamped the designs, personalities, and even their histories, and it totally breathed new life into them. These guys had been the same for years, and the MCU took them to another level, surpassing even their comic book origins. It’s kinda crazy, but the comics are now starting to borrow ideas from the movies, which just shows how much of an impact the MCU has had!

Although Labyrinth is probably more famous, thanks to David Bowie’s unforgettable performance as Jareth, The Dark Crystal is the more technically impressive film. Created with Jim Henson and Frank Oz (known for the Muppets and the voice of Yoda), The Dark Crystal is a classic, somewhat dark and captivating fantasy movie from the 1980s. What really sets it apart is its incredible puppetry and practical effects – artists are still trying to recreate its magic more than 40 years later.
