Jon M. Chu’s Wicked movies are a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, bringing the beloved story to life on screen. Based on the popular Broadway musical (which itself was inspired by Gregory Maguire’s novel), the films are visually impressive, filled with memorable songs, and deeply moving. Because the musical is presented in two parts, Chu chose to adapt it as a two-part movie to fully develop the characters. Given the films’ success, Universal Pictures is already considering making more Wicked movies, according to Vulture.

On X (formerly Twitter), comic book creator Rob Liefeld criticized the CGI in the new Fantastic Four: First Steps film, calling it “so fake.” Ralph Ineson, who plays Galactus in the movie, responded with a playful jab, simply writing “rent free” and adding a laughing-crying emoji, implying Liefeld’s comments were giving the film free publicity.

Ryan Coogler made Sinners as a deliberate change of pace from big franchise films like Creed and Black Panther. He wanted to tell a more intimate, personal story without the pressure of building a larger cinematic universe. Because of this, a sequel to Sinners doesn’t seem likely anytime soon. Luckily, the world of Sinners can still expand through other mediums besides live-action movies.

Tonight marks 49 years since the concert happened – it was Thanksgiving night, November 25th, 1976. The concert film, which is now available to watch for free on YouTube, came out in April 1978. Because of the Thanksgiving connection, I always make sure to watch it every Thanksgiving, and I definitely turn up the volume, just like the film’s opening title suggests!
