Contemporary DC films and shows don’t feel as much like celebrations of classic DC Comics as they do like showcases for James Gunn-essentially, projects conceived, written, and produced by James Gunn himself.
The director of It Ends With Us (available now on Netflix) initially sued for defamation in January 2025, naming Blake Lively and the New York Times. The suit stemmed from a report about claims that someone was trying to damage the actress’s reputation. However, the case was dismissed in June. Now, Deadline reports that the NY Times is counter-suing, seeking “Around $150,000 in attorney’s fees, damages and more.” The legal document states:

Alongside DiCaprio is a talented group of well-known performers, including Sean Penn playing the bad guy, Colonel Stephen Lockjaw, and Regina Hall as Deandra, who is part of the French 75. One Battle After Another also stars Benicio del Toro, who delivers a memorable performance as Sergio St. Carlos, a teacher who assists Bob in his search for his daughter. This isn’t the first time del Toro has stood out even when sharing the screen with major stars in a popular action film. A decade before One Battle After Another, the celebrated actor captivated audiences with his role in a lesser-known thriller that boasted a remarkable cast and crew.
It’s back-to-school time, and the new fall TV shows are starting, including Season 5 of Abbott Elementary – which means it’s time to discuss it! There’s plenty to chat about, as a lot has happened over the summer at this Philadelphia school, both in the characters’ personal lives and at work. But there’s one change among the teachers that I especially enjoyed, and I need to share my thoughts about it.
As a huge fan of Fresh Prince, I always loved Carlton! He had so many amazing moments over the show’s six seasons, but of course, everyone remembers his iconic Carlton dance – Alfonso Ribeiro even did it on Dancing With the Stars! But it wasn’t *just* the dancing that made him so popular. In an interview with Parade, Ribeiro explained that his time on another NBC sitcom, Silver Spoons, actually gave him the experience he needed to really shine on Fresh Prince.
Originally, the film was intended as one long movie, but its distributor, Miramax (and producer Harvey Weinstein), requested that Quentin Tarantino divide it into two sections. They wanted to avoid cutting down the movie from its planned four-hour length. Tarantino agreed, resulting in the release of Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and Kill Bill: Vol. 2 in theaters in the fall of 2003 and spring of 2004, respectively.
In 2027, viewers will finally meet the new generation of heroes in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout have been cast as the new Harry, Hermione, and Ron, an announcement made in May 2025. Since then, many other actors have been chosen for various roles, and most of these decisions have been well-received by both fans and critics. Even though the show isn’t scheduled to air for another two years, HBO has been sharing regular updates about its Harry Potter adaptation, repeatedly emphasizing its commitment to closely following the original books. As the series gets a fresh start on television, there’s one scene from the books that absolutely must be included (when the story reaches that point, naturally).
Jared Bush, Chief Creative Officer at Walt Disney Animation Studios, has announced that Ed Sheeran, a Grammy-winning singer, and Blake Slatkin, a Grammy-winning music producer, will both appear in Zootopia 2. He shared a photo on X confirming their roles, as well as the return of Shakira as Gazelle. All three artists contributed to the songwriting for the film’s main song, titled “Zoo.” Bush included the following caption with the image:
