The storyline of “Star Trek: Khan” was initially conceived by Nicholas Meyer, the director of “Wrath of Khan,” as a way to bridge the gap between the “Space Seed” episode and the 1982 movie over three TV episodes. However, according to Beyer, who collaborated with David Mack to adapt “Star Trek: Khan” into podcast form, they eventually recognized that Meyer’s original concept might not be suitable for its intended format.
