Alan Moore is widely considered a comic book genius. He’s known for redefining classic characters in works like Batman: The Killing Joke and Swamp Thing, and for his groundbreaking story Watchmen, which explores the darker side of superheroes. He also created the popular sci-fi story V for Vendetta, which was made into a 2006 film starring Natalie Portman. That movie will soon be available to stream on HBO Max starting March 1st.

I’ve been hearing a lot about Sykes’ new movie, Undercard, and how it’s her first dramatic role, but honestly, it still feels like the Sykes we all know and love. She plays Cheryl Stewart, a former boxer who’s turned her life around from alcohol abuse to becoming a coach, and the character just fits her personality – she’s always been known for that quick wit and slightly fiery energy. The dialogue isn’t overflowing with jokes like her stand-up, but it’s still sharp and to the point. She’s a fantastic actress, always has been, but she’s not completely transforming herself for this part – it’s still recognizably her.

As a film buff, I’ve always known music rights can be a real headache – and a major expense! Think about how much it cost to use ‘Yesterday’ by The Beatles in the movie of the same name. Recently, producer Marc Beckman talked about a similar situation with Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood, who wasn’t happy about his score from ‘The Phantom Thread’ being used in a documentary. Apparently, his contract includes a clause saying they have to at least ask him before reusing his music, but frustratingly, he doesn’t actually have the power to stop them, which is exactly what happened in this case – even though he objected!

The film boasts a strong cast, featuring Dafne Keen (from Logan) and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead). However, it feels very familiar, failing to offer anything new compared to the over-the-top thrills of the Final Destination movies from the early 2000s.

Based on Stephen King’s 1982 novel, The Running Man first hit theaters on November 14th. While critics weren’t impressed and the movie didn’t perform well in cinemas, it’s recently found a new audience and topped streaming charts, according to FlixPatrol.

The actors in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy play a diverse group of characters, including humans, completely new alien species, and some familiar alien races fans already know. Bella Shepard plays Genesis Lythe, the first character from the Dar-Sha species, while George Hawkins portrays Darem Reymi, the first Khionian. Kerrice Brooks plays SAM, an Emissary representing the Kasqians, a race of beings made of light.

Everyone is predicting Jessie Buckley will win Best Actress and Timothée Chalamet will win Best Actor at the upcoming Actor Awards. Chalamet has already won a Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award for his role in Marty Supreme, and winning at the Actor Awards would likely pave the way for his first Oscar.

According to Variety, Disney is happy with the early footage of Avengers: Doomsday. Other studio leaders are quietly forecasting that the 2026 Marvel crossover film will likely be the biggest box office hit of that year.
