The Dwarves’ Axes in The Lord of the Rings Had a Deeper Meaning Than Most Fans Realize

Peter Jackson’s films really emphasized the link between Dwarves and axes. In fact, several of Thorin’s companions – including Dwalin, Glóin, and Bofur – were given axes or axe-like weapons, even though the book didn’t say they used them. These depictions, along with other media, helped solidify the idea of Dwarves wielding axes in the public imagination. However, even though it’s a common idea, axes weren’t necessarily the natural weapon choice for Dwarves. Logically, smaller fighters like Dwarves would likely prefer longer weapons, like spears, to compensate for their shorter reach. So, why did Tolkien choose axes as the Dwarves’ main weapons? While Tolkien never explained this specifically, there are a few possible reasons, connected to both the history of the Dwarves within his stories and the real-world cultures that inspired them. It’s an interesting question, and one with multiple potential answers. Ultimately, the choice is a fascinating part of Tolkien’s world-building.

With that being said, as soon as I saw the first trailer for First Steps, I got the feeling this was exactly the Fantastic Four movie I’d always wanted. Disney+ Brings Back Ahsoka Without Rosario Dawson

As a huge Star Wars fan, I have to say Ahsoka’s newest form is a fun surprise! She’s been reimagined as a LEGO Brickheadz figure for LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past. But that’s not all – in the Disney+ miniseries, we see her swoop in during Part Two to rescue Sig (Gaten Matarazzo) and Jaxxon (Ben Schwartz) from a rather hungry Chewbacca! We also learn she’s a key leader at the Freehold, dedicated to protecting people from the villain, Solitus (Dan Stevens). From there, Ahsoka teams up with Sig and his crew to finally put a stop to Solitus throughout the rest of the series. It’s really cool to see her in this new light!

The Russos Post a Cryptic Photo & Fans Think It’s a Wolverine Announcement

As a huge movie fan, I noticed the Russo Brothers dropped a new image on Instagram on September 30, 2025. It was a black-and-white photo, and their caption, “Look hard,” immediately reminded me of that mysterious pic they posted before Endgame back in 2018! This new image shows what looks like a soundstage – you can see the lighting and these strange triangular shapes – and there’s a figure sitting down. Naturally, it’s got everyone buzzing about what it could mean for Avengers: Doomsday. It’s so fun trying to decipher these little clues they leave us!

Greenland 2’s Trailer Forgets What Made the First Gerard Butler Movie a Secret Apocalyptic Masterpiece

The possibility of continuing the story of the Garrity family in Greenland 2: Migration was first revealed in June 2021, and not everyone was thrilled, including lead actress Morena Baccarin. The original movie offered a satisfying conclusion, ending with a sense of hope for the Garrity family and for all of humanity. So, the announcement of a sequel naturally led people to ask: What could the sequel possibly be about? Many apocalyptic TV shows provide the answer easily. The initial disaster is just the beginning; the most compelling part is what happens afterward, as people struggle to rebuild after society collapses and confront the harsh realities of the new world. The early promotional material hints at this, but there’s a significant concern already causing some worry.
