NVIDIA builds a weaker AI chip for China — but will it pass the policy test?

Based on information leaked by two unidentified sources (as reported by Reuters), it appears that NVIDIA’s upcoming AI chip is expected to utilize the most recent version of the Blackwell architecture, which underpins their latest consumer RTX graphics cards. This new chip is rumored to surpass the performance capabilities of the highly regarded H20 AI GPU, a device that has garnered significant interest from both Chinese and American officials.

“Sadly you don’t know how to launch in India”: OpenAI debuts ChatGPT Go at under $5/month to promote affordability, but reactions are mixed

Last week, one of the leading AI companies adjusted its pricing structure, introducing a fresh subscription option called ChatGPT Move. It’s important to mention that this new ChatGPT subscription level is only accessible in certain areas, such as India, and it will be priced at 399 Indian Rupees monthly, which approximately equals $5 US dollars.

PlayStation hikes prices after Xbox — inflation or just peer pressure? Here’s what each model will now cost.

The price of each PlayStation 5 console has increased by $50 at every price point, currently set at $500, $450, and $700 respectively. Sony clarifies that at present, they are not raising the prices of any accessories. It’s essential to remember that in April, Sony already boosted the cost of all PlayStation 5 DualSense controllers.

It is worth mentioning that this is the first price hike for the system in the U.S. this year, but the PlayStation 5’s cost has previously gone up outside the U.S., with Sony raising prices for certain models in Australia, Europe, the U.K, and New Zealand in April.

This increase follows Microsoft’s move to raise prices on its consoles and accessories in May, causing a $599 price tag for a standard Xbox Series X.

Unlike this, Nintendo has not yet increased the price of the brand-new Nintendo Switch 2 console, but they have raised the prices of accessories and the original Nintendo Switch, which was launched way back in 2017.

OpenAI won’t make “Japanese anime sex bots” but Sam Altman says others definitely will — AI relationships are getting weird

The point under debate is particularly intriguing to me since it spawned one of the most unusual statements I’ve encountered during my reporting. Following Altman’s assertion that only a minimal fraction, nearly 1%, of ChatGPT users may have an unbalanced connection with the tool, he touched upon a boundary that OpenAI will never transgress.

“I’m worried about China” — OpenAI’s Sam Altman doesn’t believe export controls will slow foreign progress in AI supremacy war

As an enthusiast, I find myself marveling at the centerstage in this AI revolution across the USA, companies such as OpenAI (the geniuses behind ChatGPT), Meta, Alphabet (Google’s parent company), Microsoft, and NVIDIA have been trailblazers, with NVIDIA even breaking ground by surpassing a staggering $4 trillion valuation. On the other side of the globe in China, it’s companies like Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent, and ByteDance that are making significant strides to close the gap, eagerly joining the global AI race.
