Sam Altman is “terrified” of voice ID fraudsters embracing AI — and threats of US bioweapon attacks keep him up at night

In a talk at the Federal Reserve’s Regulatory Capital Framework Conference in Washington D.C on Tuesday, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, expressed his worries about banks still relying on voice authentication. As artificial intelligence becomes more widespread, this could potentially give unscrupulous individuals access to sensitive data. (Based on Business Insider’s report)

‘Wuchang: Fallen Feathers’ came close to fully breaking me multiple times — a soulslike as brutal and as beautiful as it gets

On July 24, 2025, the game titled “Wuchang: Fallen Feathers” will be released for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC platforms. Notably, it will also be available on Xbox Game Pass on the same day. For those who occasionally delve into soulsborne games or their imitators, the game has piqued my interest since I first saw its early trailers.

Ubisoft hits 5 million with Assassin’s Creed Shadows — but what’s coming next has us guessing

The game Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been successful thus far, with additional downloadable content on the horizon, making it an appealing choice for both returning players and newcomers. However, one might wonder what Ubisoft has planned next as their release schedule appears relatively sparse compared to previous years.

A new addition to the Anno city-building series is scheduled for release in November, but other titles appear to be still under development. Ubisoft has numerous games in progress, such as The Division 3, a remake of Splinter Cell, several new Assassin’s Creed titles, a rumored remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, and more.

The next major Assassin’s Creed game is tentatively named Codename Hexe and is expected to deviate from the traditional large-scale role-playing format found in games like Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, and Shadows.

An update for Massive Entertainment’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is also forthcoming, with a third-person mode planned for December to coincide with the release of the upcoming Avatar: Fire and Ash film.

In the interim, if you haven’t played it yet, my colleague Zachary Boddy reviewed Assassin’s Creed Shadows, praising it as a potential game-of-the-year contender for 2025, stating that “it retains my attention for more than 60 hours, let alone keeping me hooked for well over 100. Assassin’s Creed Shadows isn’t perfect, but I love it anyway.”

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is currently available on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (via Epic Games Store, Ubisoft, and Steam), PlayStation 5, and macOS.

Little Nightmares 3 developer Supermassive Games announces layoffs — while another horror game is delayed

Alongside their staff reductions, Supermassive Games announced that their upcoming science fiction horror game, Directive 8020, will not be released on October 2, 2025, as initially planned. Instead, it is now expected to debut in the first half of 2026. The team expressed gratitude for the understanding and support from their fanbase while they work to create an exceptional gaming experience.

Directive 8020 is part of The Dark Pictures Anthology and follows a crew of astronauts searching for a new planet. After a crash-landing, they encounter a terrifying lifeform that can transform into grotesque forms by mimicking humans.

Simultaneously, Supermassive Games is developing Little Nightmares 3, the sequel to Tarsier Studios’ horror titles. Unlike Directive 8020, Little Nightmares 3 remains on schedule for an October 9, 2025 release across Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5. Similar to its predecessors, players will guide a child through a vast, desolate world. However, unlike past games, Little Nightmares 3 offers co-op gameplay, allowing two players to navigate the experience together.
