As an analyst, I’ve been closely watching the resurgence of the Silent Hill franchise after a long period of inactivity following the cancellation of Silent Hills. It’s been quite a comeback! But the biggest surprise has been the launch of Silent Hill f, an entirely new entry developed by NeoBards Entertainment. Looking ahead, the future is bright. Bloober Team, who did a fantastic job with the Silent Hill 2 remake, is now tackling the original Silent Hill. Konami is also collaborating with Annapurna Interactive on Silent Hill: Townfall, developed by the team behind Stories Untold and Observation. And while we may never see Silent Hills realized, Hideo Kojima is returning to horror with OD, a new project in partnership with Xbox Game Studios. OD is an episodic horror experience, and it’s already generating a lot of buzz, especially because Kojima is directing the first episode, titled “Knock,” and is bringing in directors like Jordan Peele. From what we’ve seen, OD is heavily inspired by the ideas Kojima originally explored with the P.T. demo – it’s clear he’s revisiting that vision.
