Catfish’s Nev Schulman Reveals Surprising Next Career Move

Nev Schulman is embarking on a new adventure.

Approximately a year and a half since the MTV series “Catfish” was last broadcast, its host has shifted careers and is now working as a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Warburg in New York, holding a valid salesperson license. To him, his experience on television has provided valuable preparation for his new role of selling properties.

In his statement to HousingWire, Nev expressed that hosting ‘Catfish’ showed him the importance of truly listening, establishing trust swiftly, and assisting individuals in making some of their most heartfelt life choices. He went on to say that the real estate market in New York is no exception – it requires compassion, persistence, and the ability to discern crucial details amidst all the commotion to discover the perfect home.

Indeed, real estate is a family tradition for him, as he’s choosing to tread the path taken by his father, Robert Schulman – a seasoned real estate broker with numerous years of service at Coldwell Banker Warburg under his belt.

Having seen my father devote over half a century to this business, it feels significant for me to carry on his legacy by joining Coldwell Banker Warburg. As a reality star with three children shared with my wife Laura Perlongo, I’m drawn to the firm because of its values in integrity and personal connections, which I have always respected.

Aside from that, Nev shared a video on Instagram where he’s seen cycling, joyously marking his fresh employment. The caption read, “Heading towards assisting you in buying or selling your ideal property.

As a devoted fan and competitor on Dancing With the Stars season 29, I’ve recently experienced some significant shifts in my career journey. Last year, I endured a life-altering biking accident that left me with a broken neck. On that fateful day, I was riding my bike to fetch my youngest son, Cy, from school when unfortunately, a truck collided with me.

Nev posted on Instagram in August 2024 that he had fractured his neck, not that he was paralyzed. Initially, there was a moment of uncertainty about the use of his hands, but the resilience of the human body never ceases to amaze me and so does humanity. The remarkable knowledge and compassion from the medical community has been simply astounding.

He went on to say, “I feel incredibly fortunate to still be around, alive, embracing my family, on the path to a complete healing. It’s truly enlightening for me to grasp the essence of gratitude – not just for the significant events prior to the accident, but also for everything that’s unfolding now in my life.

A recently certified real estate agent isn’t unique among celebrities who have chosen professions away from the limelight. Identify other famous individuals who diversified their careers beyond the entertainment industry.

In September 2025, the host of Catfish revealed that he had secured his salesperson license in New York and started working as a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker Warburg. This move mirrors his father’s career path, who has been a seasoned broker at the same company for quite some time.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it like this: After my tumultuous legal battle with my ex-husband, Jon Gosselin, I, Kate Gosselin, found solace in my journey back to nursing. Despite the hefty lawyer bills that depleted much of my savings, this career path has brought me a sense of fulfillment and peace.

In a TikTok post dated August 2025, Kate explained her role as a Registered Nurse specializing in Pediatric Home Health Care. Currently, she works with a single family and has developed a familiar relationship with them, so when she visits their home, they recognize her. I suppose they are already acquainted with me.

What she knows, though, is that helping others is quite fulfilling.

Kate went on to say that her job has been truly enjoyable and fulfilling, as it allows her to provide relief to families with medically-challenged children. This way, the parents can spend quality time with their other children and engage in various activities.

For Drew Barrymore, there’s hardly a day of work that she’s missed throughout her career. However, even when she was just 14 and emancipated from her mother Jaid Barrymore, the child star had to work hard to make ends meet and cover her expenses.

In her 2015 memoir “Wildflower“, the actress mentioned that since she didn’t have a driver’s license, she needed to look for a place to live near her friend’s coffee shop in the Valley, as her friend worked there.

In the early 1990s, coffeehouses were the popular gathering spots, as described by her while reminiscing about working at the trendy L.A. venue, The Living Room. She recalled how people spilled out onto the streets every evening. Unfortunately, she admitted that her performance at the job was subpar, and she wasn’t particularly skilled in anything. Her professional resume only consisted of acting roles and adventurous life experiences.

She served up the tea on one tense experience in her book.

She shared that her boss, who had given her a chance based on his unique idea of employing a once-promising child actor, displayed patience as she navigated her learning phases, yet grew increasingly frustrated with her. This was evident when he unexpectedly entered the kitchen while she was washing dishes and sternly admonished her, “Be mindful not to use the abrasive side of the sponge! You’re causing scratches and fog on our pastry displays, making it hard to see what they contain!

Absolutely, after her stint on Love Island USA, Leah Kateb is now employed in an office setting. Notably, in July 2025, she took on the role of Chief Creative Officer at Skylar Fragrances. She refers to herself as a “re-founder” of this brand.

Lifeguard on duty!

Instead of fighting supernatural creatures in the Upside Down when not filming Stranger Things, Noah Schnapp dedicates his spare time to helping others in a different capacity. In an interview with Flaunt magazine from 2022, the actor shared that he took on a part-time job as a lifeguard at his local swimming pool during the summer months.

He clarified that it’s more like a casual, recreational activity for him, not directly related to his role in “Stranger Things”. Despite being part of the popular show, he maintains a regular life with ordinary friends outside of it, which helps keep him down-to-earth.

During the late ’90s and early ’00s, Erik von Detten became a favorite among teenagers due to his performances in “Escape to Witch Mountain,” “Brink!”, and “The Princess Diaries.” However, after 2010, when he lent his voice for “Toy Story 3,” the course of his career shifted significantly, leading him into the financial sector.

In his unusual interview with TopMob in 2021, von Detten shared that as his acting career began to slow down around his early twenties, he found another opportunity emerging. This was with a financial company he joined at age 25. Since then, he has remained with this company and initially held a sales position. Over time, he advanced into a management role, and it has proven to be a successful move for him.

After appearing in the 2007 film adaptation of “Hairspray,” Nikki Blonsky, who was nominated for a Golden Globe, made news when it became known that she was employed as a makeup artist at a beauty parlor on Long Island.

In simpler, more conversational language: “Back in 2011, Blonsky posted on X (previously Twitter) that he was working at Superstar Salon as a makeup artist, and more than that, he felt proud to be contributing towards his bills. However, he made it clear that no matter how far he progressed, he would never lose sight of his dreams.

Following my stint portraying California Highway Patrol Officer Jon Baker, also known as Ponch, on the hit TV series “CHiPs” from 1977 to 1983, I found myself drawn towards law enforcement in real life too. In a unique turn of events, I became a reserve police officer for the Muncie Police Department in Indiana. As time passed, I relocated to Virginia and took on the role of an investigator for the Internet Crimes Against Children task force. Eventually, my passion led me back to uniformed service, working as a reserve police officer once more, this time in St. Anthony, Idaho, in 2016.

Ethan Craft serving as your real estate agent? That’s what dreams are made of!

Instead of pursuing a path in acting following the end of the “Lizzie McGuire” series on Disney Channel, heartthrob Clayton Snyder decided to concentrate on water polo. Eventually, he played for California’s Pepperdine University in this sport.

2022 saw Snyder expressing relief as he said to TopMob News, “To be honest, when the series ended, I felt a sense of gratitude.” He continued, “It was like, ‘Alright, phew, off to high school now, a new chapter. Let’s see what lies ahead.’

Currently, Snyder is employed in the real estate sector in Los Angeles, but sometimes his earlier life as a child actor resurfaces.

He expressed, “It’s truly delightful if you decide to collaborate with me, as I excel at what I do. It’s a bonus if people recognize me as ‘that guy,’ and that’s fantastic. In fact, many of our clients have discovered my identity during home showings and reacted with surprise, saying things like, ‘We can’t believe it!’. Yet, this recognition makes me happy because I understand they aren’t working with me solely for that reason.

It’s quite surprising to learn that, during their eight-year break as The Jonas Brothers, the eldest brother, Kevin Jonas, managed and ran his own construction firm in New Jersey! To add to that, he also climbed up the corporate ladder, serving as co-CEO of The Blu Market, a company specializing in influencer marketing.

Child actor Charlie Korsmo, recognized for his roles in ‘Hook’ and ‘Can’t Hardly Wait’, abandoned his career in Hollywood to practice law. Currently, he is not only a lawyer but also a professor teaching Corporate Law and Corporate Finance at the Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland.

In the year 2011, President Barack Obama appointed Korsmo to serve as a trustee within the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation.

Yep, Charlie gave up the chocolate factory.

In 1971, Peter Ostrum first appeared as Charlie Bucket in the movie “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory”. Remarkably, that was his sole acting experience on screen. Later, in 1984, he graduated from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and subsequently dedicated himself to becoming a veterinarian.

Jennifer Stone, renowned from the show Wizards of Waverly Place, swapped out Harper Finkle’s eccentric fashion for nursing scrubs when she qualified as a nurse in 2019. Afterwards, the ex-Disney Channel actress joined the medical professionals who are bravely battling the coronavirus on the frontlines.

My dear friend Maia Rawalsh reminded me that today is World Health Day. It was also the day I transitioned from a volunteer, then a nursing student, to a resident nurse. On Instagram in 2020, I expressed my hope to measure up to the incredible healthcare professionals currently on the frontlines, as I prepare to join their ranks.

Ross Bagley, the former child actor who gained fame portraying Buckwheat in ‘The Little Rascals’ and Nicky Banks on ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’, currently operates as a real estate agent in Los Angeles.

So long, Truffle Shuffle, hello, habeus corpus.

Following a single season portraying the broody character Duncan Kane in ‘Veronica Mars’, Teddy Dunn transitioned into a career as a lawyer and now holds the position of Assistant United States Attorney at the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.

Phoebe Cates, notable for her memorable performances in movies like “The Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” “Gremlins,” and “Drop Dead Fred,” stepped away from acting during the ’90s following the birth of her two children with her husband, fellow actor Kevin Kline.

Cates went on to open Blue Tree, a gift boutique on New York City’s Madison Avenue, in 2005.
