Catherine O’Hara Hospitalized in “Serious Condition” Before Death

New details are being uncovered surrounding Catherine O’Hara‘s health battle. 

Macaulay Culkin, known for his role in Home Alone, passed away in Los Angeles on January 30th at the age of 71 after a private illness. According to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department, he was taken to the hospital in serious condition on the morning he died.

According to People magazine, officials responded to a call at 4:48 a.m. on January 30th regarding a woman, believed to be around 70 years old, at O’Hara’s home in Los Angeles. She was transported to a hospital, but sadly passed away later that day.

TopMob News reached out to the Los Angeles Fire Department for comment but has not heard back. 

The details surrounding O’Hara’s hospitalization aren’t the only information released about her final days. Her agency, Creative Artists Agency, had previously told TopMob News that she died in Los Angeles after a short illness.

Details regarding O’Hara’s health condition and the official cause of death have not been released.

Before she died, the actress from Schitt’s Creek openly discussed her health struggles. She had been diagnosed with a rare heart condition called cardiac inversus, where the heart is located on the opposite side of the chest. She is survived by her husband, Bo Welch, and their sons, Matthew, 32, and Luke, 28.

O’Hara’s rare medical condition, where her heart and organs are reversed, actually played a role in her decision to become a comedian.

She said something that really resonated with me – that finding the humor in things isn’t just a skill for a comedian, it’s actually a core survival instinct. O’Hara explained that both of his parents had great senses of humor, and growing up, his family always valued laughter and encouraged everyone to be funny.

After the actress from The Studio passed away, many of her colleagues and friends shared touching memories emphasizing how much she loved making others laugh.

Dan Levy, who worked with Catherine O’Hara on Schitt’s Creek, posted on Instagram January 30th about how lucky he felt to have shared so many years with such a talented and funny person. He said he’ll always treasure the hilarious memories they made together.

It was a true joy to work alongside Catherine O’Hara for so many years and witness her incredible talent. After spending over fifty years working with my father, Catherine felt like family long before she ever played one on screen. It’s hard to imagine life without her.
