CBS is finally making a change to the character of Reenie Green (played by Fiona Rene) in Season 3 of Tracker. Throughout the show, Reenie has been portrayed as vulnerable, and the new development aims to address this. Since the show began, Reenie has been Colter Shaw’s (Justin Hartley) trusted lawyer, helping him navigate the legal complexities of his missing-persons investigations.
Since Tracker first aired in 2024, Reenie has quickly become a key member of Colter’s team. While original team members like Velma (Abby McEnany), Teddi Bruin (Robin Weigert), and tech expert Bobby Exley (Eric Graise) typically offer support from a distance to stay safe, Reenie consistently works alongside Colter in the field, making her one of Shaw’s most at-risk teammates.
Tracker Addresses Reenie Green’s Weaknesses In “Breakaway”
Throughout the first season of Tracker, Reenie has often found herself working alongside Colter in dangerous situations where she couldn’t protect herself. This consistently leaves her feeling open and vulnerable as new threats appear. However, things begin to change for her when…
In the story “Rules of the Game,” Reenie is personally affected by the case she’s working on, which deeply impacts her emotionally. The kidnapping of Green by an assistant connected to Reenie’s client, Francie (played by Kaylah Zander), is motivated by revenge – the assistant blames Green for the downfall of her brother. Throughout the investigation, Reenie faces several close calls and dangerous situations.
This event dramatically changes Rene, revealing a vulnerability beneath her usually cool and collected lawyer exterior. However, facing dangerous situations is something Green’s character has often done. We first see Reenie take these kinds of risks in earlier episodes – she was held captive in “St. Louis” and found herself defenseless near a gunman in “Into the Wild.”
Okay, so in the latest episode of Tracker, Season 3, Episode 13, things finally clicked for me. We learn Reenie’s been secretly re-experiencing her kidnapping – and Green’s getting flashbacks to his own hostage situation. It all explains so much! Throughout the season, she’s been acting really out of character – missing meetings, drinking more, and just disappearing at night. Now it makes sense; we finally understand what’s been driving her behavior and it’s heartbreaking to see what she’s been going through.
Colter Needs To Give Reenie An Upgrade In Tracker Season 3
Randy and Cassady have been observing Reenie’s strange behavior, but she’s been careful to hide it. In Episode 13, when her new colleague, Maxine, asks how she’s doing, Reenie brushes it off, claiming she’s doing great – as long as she has a couple of drinks and a casual encounter.
Despite appearing composed, Reenie reveals her inner turmoil when she’s by herself. The episode concludes with her vigorously boxing, clearly preparing to defend herself if she faces danger again. This marks a significant change for her character, as Tracker finally acknowledges and begins to address her vulnerabilities. Even so, Green remains noticeably upset.
Given the dangerous situations Reenie constantly faces, she needs a reliable way to protect herself. It would make sense for Colter to teach her how to use a gun, so she can defend herself effectively when he can’t be there.
It’s good that the show is finally acknowledging the violence Reenie has experienced. Colter relies heavily on Green, and as their business grows, she needs better protection. The show also needs to prioritize protecting its more vulnerable characters, and the recent episode, “Breakaway,” starts to address the impact of Green’s past trauma.
