Chad Michael Murray’s Kids Make Public Debut on Red Carpet

You’d need a fortune cookie to see this one coming.

At the Los Angeles premiere of “Freakier Friday” on July 22, Chad Michael Murray’s children made an unexpected appearance, marking their first significant red carpet event. For this special occasion, Chad’s son and daughter—whose names have yet to be disclosed—dressed in pastel clothes that harmonized with the attire of the “One Tree Hill” alum and his wife, Sarah Roemer.

In the sequel of “Freaky Friday“, Chad (previously seen in the movie) is back alongside Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis. For the premiere, he donned a vibrant pink jacket and black pants from Dsquared2’s spring-summer 2025 collection, while his 9-year-old son, with a charming grin, dressed in a stylish baby blue suit and sneakers on the red carpet.

In terms of Sarah, the actress known for Disturbia, she chose a breathtaking mint green dress with a halter neckline that perfectly matched her 8-year-old daughter’s style. The little one was adorned in a green tulle dress decorated with delicate flower embroidery.

Even though their children don’t frequent Hollywood events, it doesn’t imply that they haven’t watched Chad and Sarah’s movies. In reality, their daughter has already enjoyed Chad’s 2004 romantic comedy, “A Cinderella Story.

In an interview with TopMob News back in 2024, I shared a heartwarming moment: Upon arriving home from work, I found my wife and daughter cozily nestled in bed. Curiosity piqued, I asked, “What are you watching?” Instantly, I could tell it was something she adored.

In 2023, I was blessed with the arrival of my third child, a beautiful daughter. My partner and I are committed to preserving our kids’ privacy, choosing to keep them away from the public eye as much as possible. We have even decided to educate them at home, prioritizing their personal growth and development in a nurturing environment.

In a heartfelt Instagram post on Mother’s Day 2023, Chad expressed that our global adventures are incomplete without Sarah. He highlighted the importance of her role in homeschooling, administering pop quizzes, sharing meals, and managing all sorts of motherly tasks you can imagine.

Apart from overseeing their education, the actor from Gilmore Girls also mentioned that he actively participates in his children’s after-school activities. In an interview with Etalk in 2023, he disclosed that he even coaches little league for his son.

Still, it’s been the couple’s plan all along to raise their children out of the spotlight.

Chad shared with Bello before the arrival of their first child: “I’ve been keeping a low profile lately,” indicating that he and his spouse tend to avoid popular hangouts.

He expressed it this way: “We lead our own lives, with our beloved dogs as part of it, enjoying a lifestyle that brings us great joy. We also have a cabin for escapes into nature. I’m quite content with how things are in my personal life. I’ll do whatever is necessary to safeguard my family and move forward from there.

Prior to the release of “Freaky Friday” in theaters on August 8, here are some behind-the-scenes facts about the 2003 movie.

According to Mary Rodgers’ 1972 novel with the same title, the 2003 movie “Freaky Friday” represents the second retelling of the story. The initial film adaptation was released in 1976, and a television version was produced in 1995.

2. The movie’s producer, Andrew Gunn, contacted Jodie Foster, who portrayed Annabel in the 1976 film, with the idea that she might consider playing the mother’s role. However, Foster declined the offer as she felt her involvement could be a potential distraction.

3. Annette Bening had been chosen to portray Tess Coleman, but unfortunately, she withdrew just six days prior to when filming was scheduled to commence.

After achieving stardom as the first “scream queen” in the movie “Halloween”, Jamie Lee Curtis believed that her days as a leading actress were over. However, when director Mark Waters asked her to take on the role previously offered to Bening, she found herself back in the spotlight again.

In an interview with The Telegraph in 2003, Curtis shared that he was 44 years old, slightly overweight, had grey hair that he didn’t color, and was happy with his life. He mentioned that in this line of work, he had always understood when it was time to gracefully step away.

5. After studying the script and discussing with Waters, Curtis decided to assume the matriarch character by coloring her hair and mastering the guitar for this role, which ultimately boosted her career. “It demonstrates how empowering it can be when you embrace freedom,” Curtis expressed.

6. Following her starring turn in the film “The Parent Trap“, Lindsay Lohan momentarily stepped away from the entertainment industry. She admitted that she felt disoriented by the sudden surge of popularity she experienced.

In her interview with IGN back in 2003, she shared her thoughts by saying, “Everything happened suddenly, and The Parent Trap was an outstanding film.” She went on to express that finding something to surpass it was challenging. Her desire was to attend regular school and live a normal life. After high school, she participated in two projects for Disney Channel, which were enjoyable but mainly to maintain her momentum.

But when she came across the script for Freaky Friday, Lohan knew it was “perfect” for her.

To secure the role of Anna, Lindsay Lohan first needed to outshine four other contenders. Initially, director John Waters wasn’t impressed by her audition, stating in a 2005 episode of TopMob’s “True Hollywood Story” that it was likely the worst among the five. Yet, Waters also commented, “We also felt she was a star. She possessed this incredible turmoil and power which we believed would be fascinating for the character.

Initially, Kelly Osbourne was chosen to portray Lohan’s friend in the film, but she declined the role after her mother, Sharon Osbourne, was diagnosed with colon cancer, causing her to step away from the project.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan in 2013, Osbourne stated that he had to make a difficult decision between pursuing his career and spending the potentially final days with his mother. He chose to be by her side, saying goodbye to his career and hello to caring for his mother full-time.

In the movie she appeared in, Lohan shared her first on-screen kiss with Chad Michael Murray, portraying the character Jake who was Anna’s love interest. Speaking in a behind-the-scenes interview, Lohan admitted, “By the 15th take, I wasn’t feeling too anxious anymore!

10. During a 2019 interview on Busy Tonight, Murray disclosed that he also shared a kiss with Curtis off-camera to help calm Lohan’s nerves before their on-screen kiss. In an effort to ease the tension before filming began, Curtis reportedly pulled Lohan and Murray into her trailer. According to Murray, Curtis then spontaneously kissed him, causing his immediate response of “Wow, I just kissed Jamie Lee Curtis! This is fantastic!

Tom Selleck was initially chosen to portray Tess’ boyfriend Ryan, but he departed the production following Bening’s exit. Instead, Mark Harmon stepped into the role and formed a strong bond with Curtis. In fact, the actress later appeared as a guest star on Harmon’s successful CBS series, NCIS.

Band member Amir Derakh from Orgy tutored Curtis and Lohan in playing the guitar. Later, Lohan made her debut with the recording of her first song, “Ultimate,” for the soundtrack.

I had the pleasure of spotting Dina Lohan, Lindsay’s mom and former manager, gracing the screen in the closing moments, among the wedding attendees.

In the 1976 film, Marc McClure, known for his role as Annabel’s romantic interest, has a short-lived appearance as Boris, the courier.

15. In an unusual turn of events, Harry (Ryan Malgarini) and Grandpa (Harold Gould) discovered the fortune cookies that caused their bodies to swap at the exact moment an earthquake struck, leaving open the possibility for a follow-up story.

Rumors about a sequel flourished when Curtis mentioned at a 2022 Halloween Ends press event in Mexico City that she would indeed return to play Tess. She also shared some news about her friendship with Lohan, joking that she would verify Lohan is not trying to scam her every time she sends a text, just to be sure.

Curtis reminisced about a memorable scene from the movie, where they were trying to learn the rap in the middle of a Justin Timberlake song titled “Like I Love You,” while munching on French fries in the car.

Approximately three months prior to the 20th anniversary of the initial movie, it’s anticipated that Curtis and Lohan will switch bodies again. TopMob News has confirmed that a sequel to the film is being developed.
