The newest chapter of Chainsaw Man cleverly pays tribute to Reze during the intense fight between Denji and Yoru. This battle has been building for a while, and it feels like it’s leading to the end of Part 2, or even the whole series. Because of this sense of finality, the story is now providing some resolution for certain characters. While characters like Power and Aki are gone for good, fans have been especially eager to learn the fate of Reze, the Bomb Devil.
Even though Reze was in the story for a shorter time than characters like Aki and Power, she became a crucial part of the overall plot. Denji’s biggest wish is to find a girlfriend, and Reze seemed like the most natural fit among all the possible candidates. Because they both came from similar difficult backgrounds, she quickly became a beloved character, and many fans hoped they would end up together. While that now seems unlikely, people are still curious about what happened to her. The most recent chapter doesn’t bring her back directly, but it does show that Denji hasn’t forgotten her and that she still means a lot to him.
Chainsaw Man Gives Reze a Perfect Homage in the Latest Chapter

Chapter 226 of Chainsaw Man, titled “Locust’s Home,” shows the fight between Yoru and Denji ending with Denji being kicked into the ocean. After swimming to safety, Denji realizes he’s glad he learned how to swim. Fans will recall that Denji couldn’t swim at first, and only started learning when Reze made him get in the pool during a private moment. Considering he wouldn’t have learned in just one session, his current ability suggests he continued practicing, potentially to stay connected to Reze.

From the beginning, Chainsaw Man strongly suggested that Denji and Reze were the series’ most compelling couple. They both experienced difficult childhoods and shared the unique fate of being devil hybrids, creating an undeniable connection. This made their relationship during the Reze arc – which was later adapted into a movie – one of the most powerful romantic storylines in the series. Denji relearning how to swim is a clear sign he hasn’t forgotten Reze, and the fact that swimming eventually saves his life makes the moment even more impactful. While it seems unlikely Reze will return, showing her lasting effect on Denji through this small detail is a perfect tribute from Chainsaw Man.
