The much-awaited movie version of “Chainsaw Man” is coming soon to an IMAX cinema near you! MAPPA Studio has revealed a fresh poster to announce it. Titled “Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc“, this film is the exciting continuation of the first season of the “Chainsaw Man” anime, based on the Reze arc from the manga. With MAPPA and Crunchyroll releasing multiple promotional videos, there’s been plenty of buzz surrounding the movie’s upcoming fall premiere. The “Chainsaw Man” film is set to open in Japanese theaters on September 19th. After that, it will be screened in other countries during the fall, with the US getting the movie on October 29th.
As an observer, I’m excited to share that Sony Pictures, through their Columbia Pictures corporation, will be responsible for globally distributing the movie. In Japan alone, it’s confirmed to play on 61 IMAX screens! The latest IMAX poster has caught my attention, as it showcases the main character perched atop a peculiar, shark-like creature. Admittedly, this image brings to mind the popular Sharknado film series, where sharks are propelled by tornadoes across the US. Given Chainsaw Man’s reputation for action sequences that push the boundaries of violence, Denji on a shark fits right in with the upcoming film’s style.
Everything to Know for Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc

2023 saw the initial announcement of “Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc.” This film adapts the Bomb Girl arc from the manga, featuring Denji’s encounter with a mysterious girl named Reze while confronting a new type of Devil. Many key personnel from the first season of the Chainsaw Man anime will return for this movie production. Kenshi Yonezu, who provided “Kick Back” for the first Chainsaw Man anime series, is rejoining the franchise to perform the opening theme for the Reze Arc film titled “IRIS OUT.” In 2025, Yonezu gained significant recognition within the anime community as he also composed the popular opening songs for “Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX” and “Medalist.” Hikaru Utada, renowned for her work in Kingdom Hearts, will sing the movie’s closing theme, “Jane Doe.
Apart from the upcoming “Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc” movie, the Chainsaw Man franchise is expanding with a new spin-off titled “Chainsaw Days”. Unlike the main series, which is grisly and laced with black humor, “Chainsaw Days” is a collection of lighter shorts that focus on characters during their downtime. “Chainsaw Days” is based on supplementary material from the manga volumes, providing fans with a fresh perspective on familiar faces. Additionally, Crunchyroll has revealed it will stream two compilation films for the franchise titled “Chainsaw Man: The Compilation – Part 1 & 2”. These movies will recap the events of the first season, offering fans a reminder of Season One before the new film premieres. Crunchyroll plans to stream these compilation films globally, except in Asia, starting in September. As of now, a second season for the Chainsaw Man anime has not been announced.
