Chanel West Coast Proves New Era is Going Strong in NSFW Country Song

Chanel West Coast is riding off into a new sunset. 

The former host of Ridiculousness, who started her country music career in 2025 after leaving the MTV show, released her new single “Giddy Up” on February 13th, with a collaboration from DJ Flict.

Oh my gosh, ‘Giddy Up’ is EVERYTHING! Chanel told me – well, okay, she told FanFix and TopMob News, but still! – that the whole point of the song was to bring everyone together. She really wanted country fans to feel at home, but also wanted it to be something pop, hip-hop, and even dance music lovers could totally jam to. She just wants to make music that makes you feel good, you know? Like, put it on and instantly have a blast, no matter what you usually listen to. It’s seriously the perfect song, and she totally nailed it!

The song blends country lyrics with a subtle hip-hop beat. The chorus features playful, suggestive lines like “Giddy up / Get up on that thang” and “Tighten up on them reigns.”

Later Chanel sings “Tell me how you want it, babe / I can do it the cowgirl way.”

The song evokes a distinctly country feeling as the singer declares she’ll take her beloved “to the Alamo,” followed by the playful instruction, “Now left / Right / Hold tight / Bucks up and let it slide.”

Chanel’s move into music actually began earlier this year with the release of her country song, “Lil’ Bit Country,” in April. This new direction feels like a natural step for the 37-year-old, who shares 3-year-old Bowie Breeze with her partner, Dom Fenison, as she’s mentioned this career change has been something she’s been planning for a while.

Chanel explained that she began homeschooling at age 16 to focus on both work and her music. She’s been dedicated to pursuing her passions and developing her artistry ever since, and is thrilled to finally share her singing with the world.

Even though Chanel is experimenting with a new sound, she’s made it clear that country music will always be important to her, particularly now that she’s a mother.

She shared that country music always reminds her of wonderful summers growing up, and now she’s excited to share that same experience with her own child. It feels meaningful to be making new summertime memories with country music all over again.
