Channing Tatum Reacts to Jax Taylor’s Claim They Were Once Roommates

The best days of Jax Taylor‘s life may be a little different than what he recalled.

For years, Tom Sandoval claimed Channing Tatum was his first roommate in New York City, but Tatum recently clarified that wasn’t actually the case.

Channing, 45, firmly denied ever living with him during an appearance on SiriusXM’s *Andy Cohen Live* on October 6th.

The actor from *21 Jump Street* mentioned that it was common for people starting out in his profession to live with models, but he specifically didn’t share a room with this particular reality TV star.

He explained that they’ll put you in a basic, temporary home – often with just a bed. He shared that he was kicked out of his first one after getting into a fight with someone else who was staying there.

Jax first mentioned sharing a room with Channing in 2013 while on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live, and he’s since talked more about what it was like living together.

Around 2002, modeling agencies often provided housing for models visiting the city, explained the star of *The Valley* in a May 2023 interview with *Rolling Stone*. These apartments were simple, like dorm rooms with bunk beds. They shared a small room with bunk beds and a bathroom, and Channing Tatum was one of six men living in their room.

Jax mentioned that Channing Tatum became famous very quickly, largely thanks to a Mountain Dew commercial where he did a car flip.

“Once he got that job,” he recalled, “he took off.”

Jax may have been wrong about his roommate, but he was right about Channing becoming famous after the 2002 soda commercial. That commercial is actually why Amanda Bynes, who later helped launch his acting career, wanted him to star with her in the 2006 film *She’s the Man*.

I really pushed for Channing to be in that movie because he wasn’t well-known at the time,” the actress told *Paper Magazine* in November 2018. “He had just done a Mountain Dew commercial, and I thought, ‘This guy is a star—all the girls are going to love him!’ But the producers worried he was too old for the role. I told them, ‘Age doesn’t matter! Just trust my judgment!’

“I pooped myself one time,” he admitted. “I did, I’m sorry.”

To be honest, Jelly Roll (whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord) didn’t intend to cause such serious harm.

He firmly believed it was just a misunderstanding. “I sincerely apologize,” he said. “I saw the audience quickly turn from supportive to completely against me.”
